On her way out, she allegedly received a dog muzzle in the mail, which Fiscus claimed was a threat against her for speaking out about vaccination.<\/p>\n<p>An investigation, however, revealed the muzzle was actually purchased on Fiscus\u2019 own credit card, though she\u2019s still denying she sent the muzzle to herself as some sort of hate hoax.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/tennesee-covid-vaccine-fired-dog-muzzle-michelle-fiscus-b2419534-7e4a-4048-89b5-35300e8da333.html\">According<\/a> to Axios, an investigation from the Tennessee Department of Safety &amp; Homeland Security revealed that the Amazon package containing the dog muzzle was traced back to a credit card in Fiscus\u2019 name.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c[T]he results of this investigation that purchases from both Amazon accounts were charged to the same American Express credit card in the name of Dr. Michelle D. Fiscus,\u201d the agency found.<\/p>\n<p>The health official told investigators that&nbsp;she felt threatened enough by the muzzle to \u201cstop talking about vaccinating people.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Axios noted that Fiscus \u201cprovided information for an Amazon account in her name. It was a different account than the one used to purchase the muzzle.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is just astounding to me how absolutely political and self-centered our elected people are here and how very little they care for the people of Tennessee,\u201d Fiscus <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2021\/07\/12\/health\/tennessee-vaccine-manager-fired\/index.html\">told<\/a> CNN after she was fired.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe people of Tennessee are going to pay a price,\u201d she claimed.<\/p>\n<p>Describing herself as \u201cunabashedly pro-kid &amp; weary of science deniers\u201d on Twitter, Fiscus is maintaining that she did not purchase and send herself the dog muzzle, but is a victim.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRegarding the muzzle: I ASKED Homeland Security to investigate the origin. Just provided a redacted HS report by Axios Nashville,\u201d she posted to Twitter on Monday. \u201cReport says a second account was made under my name from a phone in WA? Waiting on unredacted report. Hold tight. I have asked the state for the full unredacted report and am awaiting a response.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Michelle Fiscus MD,FAAP (@drfixus) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/drfixus\/status\/1427418351693926400?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">August 16, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>After she received blowback for sending the memo citing Tennessee\u2019s \u201cmature minor doctrine,\u201d Fiscus released a statement on the matter.<\/p>\n<p class=\"zn-body__paragraph\" data-paragraph-id=\"paragraph_552E281B-B4D2-9ECC-5CDE-9D6151249F0F\" data-act-id=\"paragraph_10\">\u201cA recipient of that memo was upset that, according to Tennessee Supreme Court case law, minors ages 14-17 years are able to receive medical care in Tennessee without parental consent and posted the memo to social media,\u201d Fiscus said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p class=\"zn-body__paragraph\" data-paragraph-id=\"paragraph_9045C388-5FE7-72D3-8232-9D58D9CF2303\" data-act-id=\"paragraph_11\">\u201cWithin days, legislators were contacting TDH (Tennessee Department of Health) asking questions about the memo with some interpreting it as an attempt to undermine parental authority.
