The vice president also commended Biden for the decision to pull troops out of Afghanistan.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is a president who has an extraordinary amount of courage,\u201d Harris told CNN anchor Dana Bash. \u201cHe is someone who I have seen \u2013 over and over again \u2013 make decisions based on what he truly believes, based on his years of doing this work and studying these issues, what he believes is the right thing to do.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s really something to see,\u201d she continued. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/08\/15\/flashback-joe-biden-afghanistan-withdrawal-ahead-of-schedule\/\">(RELATED: FLASHBACK: Biden Admin Speeds Up Afghanistan Withdrawal Ahead Of Schedule)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Biden announced the massive American withdrawal during remarks at Arlington National Cemetery, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/speeches-remarks\/2021\/04\/14\/remarks-by-president-biden-on-the-way-forward-in-afghanistan\/\">explaining<\/a> that the U.S. objective in Afghanistan had been \u201caccomplished.\u201d He said there was no reason to continue to put American soldiers at risk by keeping them stationed in the country more than 20 years after the U.S.\u2019 mission began.<\/p>\n<p>The president affirmed that the withdrawal wouldn\u2019t be hastily done and would be \u201cdeliberate.\u201d He also ensured that the Taliban, which had governed Afghanistan before 2001, wouldn\u2019t be able to take down the nation\u2019s U.S.-trained government.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have trained and equipped a standing force of over 300,000 Afghan personnel today and hundreds of thousands over the past two decades,\u201d Biden remarked in April. \u201cAnd they\u2019ll continue to fight valiantly, on behalf of the Afghans.\u201d<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_7261453\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\" readability=\"33\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-7261453\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-7261453\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/GettyImages-1234714176-scaled-1.jpg\" alt=\"President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris hold a virtual conference with their national security team on Monday. (White House via Getty Images)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>In the months since Biden\u2019s announcement, though, Taliban insurgents have <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/08\/16\/department-of-defense-military-bases-afghanistan-refugees-taliban-evacuation-translators\/\">swept across Afghanistan<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/08\/13\/taliban-afghanistan-kabul-joe-biden-white-house\/\">taking control<\/a> of the vast majority of the country including the capital city of Kabul with little to no resistance. The president and several top administration officials have openly blamed the Trump administration for the crisis after the U.S.-backed Afghanistan government officially fell to the Taliban <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AJEnglish\/status\/1426981926385094665\">on Sunday<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen I came to office, I inherited a deal cut by my predecessor,\u201d Biden said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/statements-releases\/2021\/08\/14\/statement-by-president-joe-biden-on-afghanistan\/\">statement<\/a> on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and Secretary of State Antony Blinken repeated the accusation, The Wall Street Journal <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/livecoverage\/live-afghanistan-taliban-news\/card\/ntItF7dAPvBFy2gEwJXb\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In February 2020, former President Donald Trump reached a <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/08\/16\/republican-party-website-page-donald-trump-taliban-deleted\/\">deal<\/a> with the Taliban, <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2020\/02\/14\/taliban-afghanistan-truce-trump-pompeo\/\">agreeing<\/a> to remove troops by May 1, 2021. Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/mikepompeo\/status\/1427064583798337536\">tweeted<\/a> on Sunday that the Biden administration was responsible for the swift collapse of Afghanistan and noted Trump\u2019s agreement with the Taliban was conditions-based.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe demanded a set of conditions and made clear the costs we would impose if they failed to deliver. They haven\u2019t,\u201d Pompeo said. \u201cThe deterrence we achieved held during our time.
