Tom Cotton called on &nbsp;\u201cstranded\u201d Americans in Kabul, Afghanistan, to contact his office for assistance Sunday during the Taliban\u2019s continuous takeover of the country.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/08\/15\/taliban-fighters-enter-kabul-afghan-president-ashraf-ghani-flees\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Taliban<\/a>, a radical Islamic force that formerly ruled the nation, entered Afghanistan\u2019s capital, Kabul, Sunday after former President Ashraf Ghani fled the country. The White House <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/08\/14\/biden-deploys-more-troops-afghanistan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">announced<\/a> on Aug. 14 that President Joe Biden\u2019s administration made the decision to deploy 5,000 U.S. troops to Afghanistan to assist the personnel in evacuating the U.S. Embassy in Kabul.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you\u2019re an American stranded in Afghanistan, or know one who is, please contact my office immediately. Helicopters landed at the embassy to rush diplomats to a new outpost at the airport and continued all evacuations on military flights. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/08\/15\/joe-biden-vacation-taliban-afghanistan-camp-david-kabul\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: \u2018An Unmitigated Disaster Of Epic Proportions\u2019: Biden Blasted For Being On Vacation As The Taliban Takes Over Afghanistan)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Taliban\u2019s invasion happened following Biden\u2019s April 14 <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/04\/14\/joe-biden-afghanistan-troop-withdrawal-iraq-taliban-september-11\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">vow<\/a> to withdraw all troops from Afghanistan by Sept. 11 in an attempt to end the 21-year conflict. The president extended former President Donald Trump\u2019s deadline to withdraw U.S. troops by May 1, calling the former president\u2019s plan \u201cunrealistic.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The U.S. Embassy in Afghanistan urged any American citizen in Afghanistan to leave immediately in an Aug. 12 <a href=\"https:\/\/af.usembassy.gov\/security-alert-u-s-embassy-kabul-afghanistan-08122021\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">security alert<\/a>.
