Judge Alison Nathan ruled against Maxwell\u2019s push on Friday, saying she was not immunized under a prior 2007 non-prosecution deal with Jeffrey Epstein.<\/p>\n<p>Maxwell\u2019s attorneys previously argued the case should be ruled similarly to that of the case against comedian Bill Cosby, arguing she had signed a similar plea deal with prosecutors. However, Nathan defended the decision, saying the New York court was not bound under the same promise as her former boyfriend.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Ghislaine Maxwell loses bid to dismiss sex trafficking indictment, despite Cosby claim <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/aQIAlixzur\">https:\/\/t.co\/aQIAlixzur<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/i7LkHL6igQ\">pic.twitter.com\/i7LkHL6igQ<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Reuters (@Reuters) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Reuters\/status\/1426330264708472834?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">August 13, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cEven if this court agreed with the analysis in [Cosby\u2019s case], that opinion sheds no light on the proper interpretation of the NPA in this case,\u201d wrote Nathan.<\/p>\n<p>Maxwell is currently being held in a Brooklyn federal jail after pleading not guilty to an eight-count indictment accusing her of grooming underage rape victims to Epstein.
