Listen to the full podcast <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/show\/morning-wire\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3><b>Publishing Company Censors Conservative Books<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><b>The Topline:<\/b><span> After the American Booksellers Association found itself in hot water for featuring two conservative books in a promotional mailer to stores, the group released details on how it plans to prevent sending out similar books in the future.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Daily Wire Buzz: <\/b><span>One of those books was the bestseller \u201cBlackout\u201d by Daily Wire personality, author, and commentator Candace Owens.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>The Background&nbsp;<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span>Every month, the ABA sends out promotional boxes which include featured book lists and review copies of upcoming titles for retailers to consider stocking.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Last month, an ABA staffer&nbsp;sent out Owens\u2019 \u201cBlackout: How Black America Can Make Its Second Escape from the Democrat Plantation\u201d \u2014 mistaking it for a social-justice-themed teen romance titled \u201cBlackout\u201d \u2014&nbsp;along with promotional copies of Abigail Shrier\u2019s bestseller \u201cIrreversible Damage,\u201d which is critical of the increase in transgender cases among teen girls.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Some shop owners were upset by the inclusion of the two books and aired their grievances on social media, where a growing number of online activists joined them.<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_277036\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-277036\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-277036\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/Candace-Owens-1-300x169.jpeg\" alt width=\"620\" height=\"349\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dw-wp-production.imgix.net\/2021\/08\/Candace-Owens-1-300x169.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/Candace-Owens-1.jpeg 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 620px) 100vw, 620px\" \/><\/p>\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-277036\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><em>Jason Davis\/Getty Images<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><b>ABA Apologizes&nbsp;<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span>In response, the ABA sent out two separate apologies and promised to take steps to make sure similar books weren\u2019t included in the future.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The group said including these \u201cracist,\u201d \u201ctransphobic\u201d books in the mailing did \u201chorrific harm\u201d that caused \u201cviolence and pain\u201d to members who received it.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>They also apologized for how the books \u201ctraumatized and endangered members of the trans community\u2026erased Black authors\u2026and put the [other] authors in [that month\u2019s box] in danger through a forced association.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>What\u2019s Happening Now?<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span>Going forward, the ABA said there will be a review process to screen out titles which don\u2019t adhere to their \u201cdiversity, equity, and inclusion\u201d policy.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>They\u2019ll also be instituting training sessions and forums on queer and black issues, as well as donating money to a host of groups.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>The pushback: <\/b><span>Critics of the ABA\u2019s decision to remove conservative books in the future pointed out the group\u2019s stated commitment to free speech.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Every year, the ABA hosts \u201cBanned Books Week\u201d to celebrate the freedom to read. Critics were concerned that the definition of \u201cbroker\u201d was so broad that it could include anyone involved in any kind of crypto transaction.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>A group of crypto-friendly lawmakers proposed an edit to this language which was supported by the cryptocurrency \u201clobby,\u201d but was quickly countered. A compromise amendment was put forward and rejected, meaning that the infrastructure bill was passed with its original language, putting the cryptocurrency industry back where it started.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>The New Frontier: Taxes And Crypto<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span>Some cryptocurrency brokers already report transactions to the IRS, but most don\u2019t, according to some experts.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Lawmakers are reportedly unlikely to view cryptocurrency as an issue significant enough to derail the infrastructure bill, even though a new \u201cBlockchain Caucus\u201d is pushing for improvements.
