Disney also earned $17.02 billion in revenue, surpassing a predicted $16.76 billion.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cWe ended the third quarter in a strong position, and are pleased with the Company\u2019s trajectory as we grow our businesses amidst the ongoing challenges of the pandemic,\u201d said Disney CEO Bob Chapek in a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.businesswire.com\/news\/home\/20210812005843\/en\/\"><span>press release<\/span><\/a><span>. \u201cWe continue to introduce exciting new experiences at our parks and resorts worldwide, along with new guest-centric services, and our direct-to-consumer business is performing very well, with a total of nearly 174 million subscriptions across Disney+, ESPN+ and Hulu at the end of the quarter, and a host of new content coming to the platforms.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>In particular, revenue from Disney Parks reached $4.3 billion \u2014 compared to $1.06 billion during the same period last year.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2021\/08\/12\/disney-earnings-theme-parks-post-first-profit-since-covid-struck-in-2020.html\"><span>CNBC<\/span><\/a><span> reports:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"26\">\n<p><i><span>Disney\u2019s domestic parks eased restrictions in April, which led to a boost in attendance. While guest capacity wasn\u2019t at peaks seen before the pandemic, it\u2019s improving as mask mandates were loosened during the quarter.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i><span>In each of the previous five quarters, Disney has reported a loss in operating income in the segment because of the Covid-19 outbreak. During the third quarter, the company\u2019s operating income from parks, experiences and products reached $356 million, compared with a loss of $1.87 billion during the same quarter last year.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i><span>The resurrection of the theme park industry is critical to Disney\u2019s bottom line. After all, in 2019, the segment, which includes cruises and hotels, accounted for 37% of the company\u2019s $69.6 billion in total revenue.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span>Disney recently <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/disney-latest-entertainment-company-to-mandate-vaccines-for-employees\"><span>mandated<\/span><\/a><span> COVID-19 vaccines \u2014 including for employees working in Disneyworld and Disneyland.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cAt The Walt Disney Company, the safety and well-being of our employees during the pandemic has been and continues to be a top priority,\u201d explained Disney in a statement. \u201cToward that end, and based on the latest recommendations of scientists, health officials and our own medical professionals that the COVID-19 vaccine provides the best protection against severe infection, we are requiring that all salaried and non-union hourly employees in the U.S. working at any of our sites be fully vaccinated.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Disney also <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/disney-moves-thousands-of-jobs-from-california-to-floridas-business-friendly-climate\"><span>moved<\/span><\/a><span> 2,000 theme park jobs to Florida \u2014 explicitly citing the state\u2019s business-friendly climate.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cThis new project will create a dynamic environment to support our expanding business \u2014 a brand-new regional campus which will be built in the vibrant Lake Nona community of Orlando, Florida,\u201d Disney Parks executive Josh D\u2019Amaro told staff. \u201cIn addition to Florida\u2019s business-friendly climate, this new regional campus gives us the opportunity to consolidate our teams and be more collaborative and impactful both from a creative and operational standpoint.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span>The Daily Wire is one of America\u2019s fastest-growing conservative media companies and counter-cultural outlets for news, opinion, and entertainment.
