Version: 4.0.47--><div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/RH-scaled-1.jpg?w=1200&amp;h=800&amp;ixlib=react-9.0.3\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\" \/><\/div>\n<p>The situation is Afghanistan continues to rapidly deteriorate as numerous reports now say that the Taliban has taken over two of the nation\u2019s largest cities and has reportedly seized American weapons and military equipment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe seizure of Kandahar and Herat marks the biggest prizes yet for the Taliban, who have taken 12 of Afghanistan\u2019s 34 provincial capitals as part of a weeklong blitz,\u201d the Associated Press <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/middle-east-afghanistan-taliban-26d485963b7a0d9f2107afcbc38f239a\">reported<\/a>, adding that the Taliban has also captured Ghazni, which cuts of a critical highway linking the nation\u2019s capital, Kabul, with the nation\u2019s southern provinces.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile Kabul itself isn\u2019t directly under threat yet, the losses and the battles elsewhere further tighten the grip of a resurgent Taliban, who are estimated to now hold over two-thirds of the country and continue to press their offensive,\u201d the report added. \u201cThe latest U.S. military intelligence assessment suggests Kabul could come under insurgent pressure within 30 days and that, if current trends hold, the Taliban could gain full control of the country within a few months.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Taliban\u2019s rapid advancement through the country has netted the extremist group control of U.S.-made military vehicles, anti-aircraft guns, armored tanks, and artillery that were provided to Afghan security forces to fight against the Taliban.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese captured systems will increase the mobility and lethality of the Taliban, making them a more formidable adversary,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/national-security\/taliban-seizes-us-weapons-and-military-equipment-as-afghan-takeover-accelerates\/\">said<\/a> Bradley Bowman, senior director of the Center on Military and Political Power at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies. \u201cWe have already seen the Taliban using captured humvees to patrol Kunduz and Sar-e Pol.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\" readability=\"10.184501845018\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">The sheer amount of vehicles raises the question if anyone ever used them after they were paid and transferred by the US \u2026 <br \/>Now every Taliban fighter gets his own Ford, Toyota, Humvee or MRAP. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/3wfSMt2VPR\">pic.twitter.com\/3wfSMt2VPR<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Julian R\u00f6pcke (@JulianRoepcke) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JulianRoepcke\/status\/1425756417617801222?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">August 12, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Newsweek <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/taliban-lightning-afghanistan-advance-win-billions-dollars-us-made-weapons-1618220\">added<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"25\">\n<p><em>The Taliban have used American rifles to gun down [Afghan National Army] soldiers and explosive-laden Humvees to bomb their checkpoints. This is the largest total since early 2019.
