However, everyone two years and older must still comply with indoor mask mandates.<\/p>\n<p>San Francisco\u2019s updated health order is more stringent than a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/nyc-mayor-announces-city-will-require-proof-of-covid-19-vaccination-to-enter-indoor-restaurants-work-out-inside-gyms\">similar policy<\/a> set to be enforced next month in New York City, which will allow partially vaccinated people to enter certain indoor establishments.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\" readability=\"11.095477386935\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">San Francisco will become the first major US city to require full vaccination for patrons at indoor establishments like restaurants, cafe, bars, and gyms.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Matt Haney (@MattHaneySF) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MattHaneySF\/status\/1425861990115803136?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">August 12, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cThe Health Order is designed to protect against the continued spread of COVID-19, particularly among the unvaccinated, while keeping businesses open and helping to ensure schools remain open,\u201d the news release from Breed\u2019s office said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe know that for our city to bounce back from the pandemic and thrive, we need to use the best method we have to fight COVID-19 and that\u2019s vaccines,\u201d said Mayor Breed in a statement. \u201cMany San Francisco businesses are already leading the way by requiring proof of vaccination for their customers because they care about the health of their employees, their customers, and this City. This order builds on their leadership and will help us weather the challenges ahead and keep our businesses open.
