Trump won 45% of the <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2020\/11\/04\/trump-biden-election-florida-electoral-votes\/\">Hispanic vote<\/a> in Florida, an 11-point increase from his 2016 performance, <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2020\/09\/08\/florida-cuban-voters-donald-trump-joe-biden-election\/\">mainly due to support<\/a> among Miami\u2019s Cuban-American community.<\/p>\n<p>Trump also won around 41-47% of the Hispanic vote in traditionally Democratic <a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2020\/11\/05\/931836590\/how-texas-longtime-democratic-and-heavily-latino-county-flipped-red\">border counties<\/a> in Texas\u2019 Rio Grande Valley region, where up to 90% of residents are Hispanic. Counties in Texas with the highest percentage of Hispanic residents also shifted toward the Republican Party between 19 and 55 points in the 2020 election, The Washington Post <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/opinions\/2021\/08\/05\/latinos-are-not-lock-democrats-heres-why\/\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>David Shor, head of data science at the left-leaning OpenLabs R&amp;D, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2021\/07\/11\/1014967344\/latino-voters-are-leaving-the-democratic-party\">told NPR<\/a> in an interview last month that Republicans\u2019 gains among Hispanics \u201cwas a national trend that happened basically everywhere.\u201d<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_7259415\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\" readability=\"35\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-7259415\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-7259415 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/GettyImages-1228517801-scaled-1.jpg\" alt=\"US President Donald Trump arrives for a roundtable rally with Latino supporters at the Arizona Grand Resort and Spa in Phoenix, Arizona on September 14, 2020. He noted \u201cthe clout of college-educated white people in the Democratic Party has increased,\u201d and in turn, Democrats have become more associated with cultural liberalism in a way that doesn\u2019t resonate with Hispanics.<\/p>\n<p>The growing use of \u201cLatinx\u201d as a gender-neutral alternative to Latino or Latina is one such example of the Democratic Party\u2019s cultural liberalism. The term is rarely used among Hispanics and many have never even heard of the term, polling data shows.<\/p>\n<p>A Gallup poll published earlier in August found only 4% of Hispanic adults <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/08\/05\/poll-hispanic-latinx\/\">prefer to use the term<\/a> \u201cLatinx\u201d to self-identify. The poll also asked which term they lean toward if they had to choose, and 57% of respondents preferred Hispanic while 37% chose Latino.<\/p>\n<p>Gallup\u2019s findings confirm an earlier poll conducted by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pewresearch.org\/hispanic\/2020\/08\/11\/about-one-in-four-u-s-hispanics-have-heard-of-latinx-but-just-3-use-it\/\">Pew Research Center<\/a> in August 2020. According to that poll, only 23% of Hispanic adults had even heard of \u201cLatinx\u201d and just 3% were using it. Among older Hispanics, just 7% of respondents age 65 or older had heard of the term.<\/p>\n<p>The term \u201cLatinx\u201d has been mocked even by some liberal commentators like talk show host Bill Maher, who <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/06\/24\/flashback-bill-maher-attacks-latinx-pandering-white-politicians\/\">said<\/a> after the 2020 election that the term was only used by \u201cpandering white politicians who mistake Twitter for real people.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>WATCH:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"New Rule: Strife of the Party | Real Time with Bill Maher (HBO)\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/SgrZAPUvKyA?start=101&#038;feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/p>\n<p>Democrats\u2019s leftward shift on economic and social issues further consolidated Hispanic voting blocs for Republicans, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/opinions\/2021\/08\/05\/latinos-are-not-lock-democrats-heres-why\/\">according<\/a> to The Washington Post.<\/p>\n<p>Republicans\u2019 historical <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2020\/05\/26\/cuba-donald-trump-2020-presidential-election\/\">anti-communist message<\/a> has resonated with Cuban Americans who fled Fidel Castro\u2019s regime, and the party\u2019s newer anti-socialism message has also drawn in Venezuelan Americans who oppose Nicholas Maduro\u2019s regime. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/07\/06\/democratic-socialists-america-venezuela-nicolas-maduro\/\">(RELATED: Leaders From America\u2019s Largest Socialist Organization Met With Venezuelan Dictator Maduro)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Many Hispanic Catholics and Evangelicals are conservative on abortion and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pewresearch.org\/hispanic\/2012\/04\/04\/v-politics-values-and-religion\/\">other social issues<\/a>, according&nbsp;to Pew Research Center going back <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pewforum.org\/2012\/10\/18\/latinos-religion-and-campaign-2012\/\">multiple election cycles<\/a>, and those voters have long supported the Republican Party.<\/p>\n<p>Trump not only held onto those traditional Hispanic Republicans in the 2020 election, but he also gained new voters among working class and politically moderate Hispanics, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/opinions\/2021\/08\/05\/latinos-are-not-lock-democrats-heres-why\/\">according<\/a> to The Washington Post.<\/p>\n<p>Around 80% of Hispanics do not have a college degree, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.census.gov\/newsroom\/press-releases\/2020\/educational-attainment.html\">according<\/a> to the Census Bureau, and Trump spent much of the 2020 campaign touting his administration\u2019s economic polices and its impact on <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2019\/04\/01\/wages-donald-trump-education\/\">working class and non-college educated<\/a> voters, at least before the pandemic.<\/p>\n<p>The \u201claw and order\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2020\/08\/26\/trump-sending-federal-law-enforcement-national-guard-kenosha-wisconsin-jacob-blake-shooting-tony-evers\/\">rhetoric<\/a> of Trump and other Republicans in the 2020 election <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2020\/09\/17\/black-lives-matter-pew-poll-white-voters-protests\/\">likely appealed to<\/a> moderate Hispanics, especially as major cities were <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2020\/09\/16\/george-floyd-protests-damages-protests-riots-1-billion\/\">swept by riots and civil unrest<\/a> last summer following George Floyd\u2019s death. He added that progressive ideas like \u201cdefunding the police, abolishing ICE, stopping the development of cheap and reliable energy [and] this weaponizing of race that\u2019s dividing America\u201d is turning off a lot of Hispanics. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/06\/09\/democrats-elections-2020-hispanics-republicans\/\">(RELATED: \u2018They Don\u2019t Buy Into That At All\u2019: Are Far-Left Policies Behind Hispanic Voters\u2019 Rightward Shift?)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A <a href=\"https:\/\/s3.amazonaws.com\/hafa\/Battleground-Immigration-Questions-Draft-8-2.pdf?mtime=20210413091847&amp;focal=none\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Heritage Action<\/a> poll conducted in March found that 58% of Hispanic respondents oppose President Joe Biden\u2019s rollback of Trump-era immigration policies and 66% oppose ending funding for the border wall, even though Democrats had long claimed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/alexandria-ocasio-cortez-racism-democrats-border-wall-ice-donald-trump-1353002\">such policies<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/IlhanMN\/status\/1379842225522216961\">were racist<\/a> against Hispanics.<\/p>\n<p>Internal polling of Hispanic likely voters in battleground by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nrsc.org\/press-releases\/nrsc-releases-new-battleground-poll-on-hispanic-voters-2021-05-28\/\">National Republican Senatorial Committee<\/a> (NRSC) in May found those voters largely aligned with Republicans when it came to their values and political priorities. A majority of respondents were supportive of market economics, border security, voter ID and traditional family values.<\/p>\n<p>NRSC chairman Sen.
