The president has also credited <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/speeches-remarks\/2021\/08\/06\/remarks-by-president-biden-on-the-july-jobs-report\/#:~:text=the%20covid-19%20vaccine%20plan%2C%20the%20american%20rescue%20plan\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">without evidence<\/a> the $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan, which he <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/03\/11\/joe-biden-signs-american-rescue-plan\/\">signed into law<\/a> in March, for driving job growth.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Biden plan is working, the Biden plan produces results, and the Biden plan is moving the country forward,\u201d Biden said during <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/speeches-remarks\/2021\/08\/06\/remarks-by-president-biden-on-the-july-jobs-report\/\">remarks<\/a> following last week\u2019s jobs report, which <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/08\/06\/economy-job-growth-joe-biden-labor-department\/\">showed<\/a> the economy had added 943,000 new jobs in July.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re now the first administration in history to add jobs every single month in our first six months in office, and the only one in history to add more than 4 million jobs during the first six months,\u201d he continued. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/08\/09\/labor-shortage-record-unemployment-united-states-economy-business\/\">(RELATED: US Labor Shortage Surges To New Record High As Unemployment Remains Elevated)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The president similarly <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/POTUS\/status\/1424849218808782850\">tweeted<\/a> Monday that economic growth had reached its quickest pace in 40 years because of the \u201cBiden plan.\u201d He <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/potus\/status\/1400909277498384386?s=21\">compared<\/a> the rapid job growth since January to the relatively meager growth that occurred during former Presidents Ronald Reagan and Donald Trump\u2019s first months in office.<\/p>\n<p>The job figures are misleading, however, since no U.S. president has assumed office under economic circumstances similar to Biden\u2019s, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.factcheck.org\/2021\/05\/both-sides-spinning-jobs-report\/\">according<\/a> to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politifact.com\/factchecks\/2021\/jul\/09\/joe-biden\/joe-biden-target-early-job-gains-figure-leaves-out\/#sources\">multiple<\/a> media <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/politics\/2021\/06\/08\/bidens-bragging-about-four-months-job-gains\/\">fact checkers<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The labor market has grown precipitously since the economy lost 20.7 million jobs in April 2020 when it nosedived due to increasing restrictions following the outbreak of COVID-19, Department of Labor data <a href=\"https:\/\/fred.stlouisfed.org\/series\/PAYEMS\">showed<\/a>. The labor market is still approximately 5.7 million jobs short of its pre-pandemic level of 152.5 million employed Americans recorded in February 2020.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, California, New York and most other states have eased coronavirus restrictions in recent months, allowing businesses to begin hiring again, the New York Times <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/interactive\/2020\/us\/states-reopen-map-coronavirus.html\">reported<\/a>. The number of Americans fully vaccinated against coronavirus has also <a href=\"https:\/\/covid.cdc.gov\/covid-data-tracker\/#vaccinations_vacc-total-admin-rate-total\">increased<\/a> under the Biden administration after the vaccination effort was initiated at the tail end of Trump\u2019s presidency.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe jobs record in the first months of any administration is mostly a matter of circumstances, good or bad, that awaited the president when he took the oath of office,\u201d a Washington Post fact check said. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/07\/17\/united-states-economy-unemployment-joe-biden-jobless-claims\/\">(RELATED: \u2018A Good Sign\u2019: Fewer People File For Unemployment In States Cutting Federal Bonus, Data Shows)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The 3.4 million jobs lost during former President Barack Obama\u2019s first six months in office would be his fault based on Biden\u2019s method of determining a president\u2019s economic performance. In reality, Obama took office amid the Great Recession, which triggered 21 consecutive months of job losses from February 2008 through October 2009, according to the Labor Department.<\/p>\n<p>Biden also failed to mention that the first several months of a president\u2019s term are rarely indicative of their entire presidency, according to the Post. Former Presidents Reagan and Bill Clinton oversaw massive job growth over their eight-year terms, but got off to relatively slow starts.<\/p>\n<p>The Republican National Committee (RNC) criticized Biden for slowing the recovery started by Trump in a <a href=\"https:\/\/gop.com\/rapid-response\/biden-is-squandering-the-recovery-he-inherited\/\">blog post<\/a> written after the <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/05\/07\/april-job-growth-expectations-joe-biden-white-house\/\">modest April jobs report<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUnder the leadership of President Trump and Republicans in Congress, the economy recovered 56% of the jobs lost in the pandemic,\u201d the RNC blog post said. \u201cBut instead of building on this progress, Biden\u2019s policies are obstructing the recovery.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Content created by The Daily Caller News Foundation is available without charge to any eligible news publisher that can provide a large audience.
