And he has rebuilt our alliances with our democratic partners and allies, rallying the world to stand up against human rights abuses, to address the climate crisis, and to fight the global pandemic, including by donating hundreds of millions of vaccine doses to countries around the globe.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i><span>In keeping this commitment, today President Biden is pleased to announce that in December he will bring together leaders from a diverse group of the world\u2019s democracies at a virtual Summit for Democracy, to be followed in roughly a year\u2019s time by a second, in-person Summit.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span>According to the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.state.gov\/summit-for-democracy\/\"><span>State Department<\/span><\/a><span>, the event will \u201cbring together leaders from\u202fgovernment, civil society, and the private sector to set forth an affirmative agenda for democratic renewal and to tackle the greatest threats faced by democracies today through collective action.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Those threats include \u201ctenuous rule of law,\u201d \u201chigh inequality,\u201d and \u201cauthoritarian leaders reaching across borders to undermine democracies\u201d \u2014 including \u201ctargeting journalists and human rights defenders to meddling in elections all while claiming their model is better at delivering for people.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Despite the Biden administration\u2019s assertions, the American public\u2019s trust in the Commander-in-Chief is dwindling.
