Text around the mask reads: \u201cYour mask is as useless as Joe Biden.\u201d <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/checkyourfact.com\/2021\/07\/21\/fact-check-ron-desantis-holding-anti-mask-shirt\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Did Ron DeSantis Pose For A Photo Holding Up This Anti-Mask Shirt?)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The picture, however, appears to be doctored. Through a reverse image search, Check Your Fact found <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gettyimages.com\/detail\/news-photo\/retired-american-professional-basketball-player-dennis-news-photo\/971541516?adppopup=true\">the original, undoctored photo<\/a> was taken in 2018, well before the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/article\/coronavirus-timeline.html\">COVID-19 pandemic<\/a> and before <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2020\/11\/07\/us\/politics\/joe-biden-is-elected-the-46th-president-of-the-united-states.html\">President Joe Biden was elected<\/a>. The two leaders later met in Hanoi in 2019, though no agreements were reached, the outlet <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/us-northkorea-southkorea-usa-timeline\/timeline-from-historic-summit-to-building-destruction-north-korea-unsettles-u-s-idUSKBN23N37H\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/coronavirus\/2019-ncov\/prevent-getting-sick\/prevention.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">currently recommends<\/a>&nbsp;individuals ages 2 and older who are not fully vaccinated to wear masks in public indoor spaces to help protect against COVID-19.
