We want to establish communication with you and urge you to return the hacked assets.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe amount of money you hacked is the biggest one in the defi history,\u201d the letter said, referring to decentralized finance. \u201cLaw enforcement in any country will regard this as a major economic crime and you will be pursued. It is very unwise for you to do any further transactions. The money you stole are from tens of thousands of crypto community members, hence the people. You should talk to us to work out a solution.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\" readability=\"3.5675675675676\">\n<p lang=\"und\" dir=\"ltr\"><a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/Yzw4oDenjC\">pic.twitter.com\/Yzw4oDenjC<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Poly Network (@PolyNetwork2) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/PolyNetwork2\/status\/1425123153009803267?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">August 10, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Researchers at blockchain security firm SlowMist said more than $610 million worth of cryptocurrency was stolen, the Post reported.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfter the initial hack, the crooks allegedly sent their crypto haul to various digital wallet addresses in an effort to cover their trail. SlowMist said they have \u2018grasped the attacker\u2019s mailbox, IP, and device fingerprints \u2026 and is tracking possible identity clues related to the Poly Network attacker,&#8217;\u201d said the Post.<\/p>\n<p>So far, several cyber currencies have been able to freeze the stolen assets. For instance, Tether, which issues a digital currency known as a stablecoin, said on Twitter that the company had frozen $33 million worth of the coin, according to the chief technology officer.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Changpeng Zhao, CEO of the cryptocurrency exchange Binance, said he his company is \u201ccoordinating with all our security partners to proactively help.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Still, he wasn\u2019t exactly optimistic. \u201cThere are no guarantees,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\" readability=\"8.7661538461538\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">We are aware of the <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/IgGJ0598Q0\">https:\/\/t.co\/IgGJ0598Q0<\/a> exploit that occurred today.
