After coming to his rescue as Robin, Tim later hits up Bernard\u2019s pad, and you can see the anticipation\u2019s building \u2019cause he hypes himself up, saying \u2026 \u2018It\u2019s OK, Tim. You got this,&#8217;\u201d per TMZ.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen Bernard opens the door he\u2019s on the verge of asking out Tim on a date, but Tim interrupts with \u2026 \u2018I\u2019m really glad you got home okay. I was relieved. And I\u2019ve been doing a lot of thinking, about that night. And I \u2014 I don\u2019t know what it meant to me. Not yet. A brand-new chapter of Tim Drake\u2019s life starts here, and you won\u2019t want to miss it!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Comic writer Meghan Fitzmartin <a href=\"https:\/\/www.polygon.com\/comics\/22617395\/robin-gay-queer-batman-dc-comics\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">told<\/a>&nbsp;Polygon:&nbsp;\u201c[The issue] happened because this is who Tim is.&nbsp;I love this character very much, and as I went back to reread as much as I could to do Robin justice, it became clear this is the story Tim needed to tell.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As CNN <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2021\/08\/10\/entertainment\/batman-robin-lgbtq-queer-comics-trnd\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reported<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"13.528330781011\">\n<p><em>Fans have long seen Batman\u2019s loyal sidekick as a potentially queer character since the first Robin, Dick Grayson, made his comics debut in the 1940s. In a <a href=\"https:\/\/slate.com\/culture\/2016\/04\/the-history-of-the-gay-subtext-of-batman-and-robin.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">2016 article for Slate<\/a>, adapted from his book on the World\u2019s Greatest Detective, culture critic Glen Weldon documented a few instances that made readers\u2019 ears perk up. These include depictions of Batman and Robin lying next to each other, naked, in separate beds; Batman and Robin waking up in the same bed; Robin throwing jealous fits when Batman entertained female love interests. Former Batman comic writer Grant Morrison even told Playboy magazine that \u201cgayness is built into Batman.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>As the New York Post further <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2021\/08\/10\/robin-is-bisexual-new-batman-comic-confirms\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reported<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"12.245508982036\">\n<p><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/us\/archie-comics-announces-gay-character-will-marry-will-anyone-object\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Comics<\/a> have been <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/entertainment\/loki-marvel-villain-mcu-first-openly-bisexual-character\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">increasingly representative<\/a> of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/entertainment\/cartoon-network-nickelodeon-pride-month\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">LGBTQ community<\/a> as of late.
