Cuomo made the announcement in a press briefing on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>The Democrat went on to say, \u201cthe best way I can help now is if I step aside and let government get back to governing.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Addressing the people of New York. Watch LIVE: <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/0DOItVsW23\">https:\/\/t.co\/0DOItVsW23<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Andrew Cuomo (@NYGovCuomo) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/NYGovCuomo\/status\/1425123162174414851?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">August 10, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Cuomo claimed the independent probe, led by New York Attorney General Letitia James, was politically motivated.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen there is a bias or a lack of fairness in the justice system, it is a concern for everyone, not just those immediately effected,\u201d he stated. \u201cThe most serious allegations made against me had no credible factual basis&nbsp; in the report.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>His official resignation will take effect in 14 days, with Lt. Gov. Kathy Hochul (D-N.Y.) stepping up to replace him.
