Biden had instructed Austin to investigate \u201chow and when\u201d to implement a vaccine mandate for service members in late July.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Component-root-0-2-59 Component-p-0-2-50\">\u201cI will seek the president\u2019s approval to make the vaccines mandatory no later than mid-September,\u201d Austin wrote in the memo, adding that he may move up the date if the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) fully approves the vaccine before then. \u201cI will not hesitate to act sooner or recommend a different course to the President if I feel the need to do so.\u201d <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/06\/23\/us-cotton-banks-gilday-antiracism-whistleblowers-military-ideology\/\">(RELATED: Inside The High-Profile Battle Over Critical Race Theory In The US Military)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-partner=\"tweetdeck\" readability=\"9.2265193370166\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">WASHINGTON (AP) \u2014 Pentagon to require members of US military to get COVID-19 vaccine by Sept. 15, according to memo obtained by AP.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Jonathan Lemire (@JonLemire) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JonLemire\/status\/1424775475554144262?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">August 9, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The action will add the COVID-19 vaccine to the existing list of vaccines that service members are already required to have upon joining the military.<\/p>\n<p>To date, at least 50 percent of members in each military branch are at least partially vaccinated, with the Army having the lowest rate and the Navy having the highest at 74 percent, according to the AP.<\/p>\n<p>The Biden administration has already imposed a vaccine mandate for foreigners seeking entry into the U.S., but the Pentagon order will be the first mandate to apply to American citizens.<\/p>\n<p>Biden and other administration officials have <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/04\/06\/white-house-psaki-vaccine-passport-coronavirus\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">repeatedly stated<\/a> that a blanket federal vaccine mandate or passport system for all Americans is not on the table.
