Now, the 28-year-old wants to ease her mother\u2019s burdens and help fulfill her \u201cdream.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"paragraph\" readability=\"11\">\n<p>As a gold medal Olympian, Mensah-Stock receives $37,500, paid out by the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee. It\u2019s all going to her mom.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"paragraph\" readability=\"8.8095238095238\">\n<p>\u201cShe\u2019s always doing back-breaking work and \u2026 I\u2019ve just seen her struggling ever since my dad died and I don\u2019t like seeing it,\u201d the gold medalist&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/sports\/tokyo-olympics-tamyra-mensah-stock-using-prize-money-buy-mom-food-truck\/\">told<\/a> PEOPLE magazine on Friday.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"paragraph\" readability=\"14\">\n<p>\u201cI made a promise to her and she loves cooking,\u201d Mensah-Stock said. \u201cIt\u2019s just one of her passions. Growing up, we\u2019d be like, \u2018Ooh, mommy, you put your back into this food. Like you literally put your foot in it.\u2019 \u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>The wrestler recalled her mother using a portable grill to make and sell food off of when Mensah-Stock was a little girl, which the wrestler said was \u201cnot exactly the best legal method.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"paragraph\" readability=\"14\">\n<p>\u201cSo how about I buy you a food truck and you can be anywhere you want to be?\u201d Mensah-Stock said she told her mother. \u201c[My mom] was ecstatic. She\u2019s like, \u2018Yes, I would love that.\u2019 This is five years ago. And I just keep telling her, \u2018Just hold off, mommy, please just hold off.&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"paragraph\" readability=\"15\">\n<p>Now, Mensah-Stock can make her mother\u2019s \u201cdream come true,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is going to be pleasant. It\u2019s going to be legal. It\u2019s going to be fun,\u201d the wrestler added.<\/p>\n<p>And&nbsp;she\u2019s even got a name in mind for the food truck: \u201cThe Lady Bug.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>As highlighted by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/i-love-representing-the-u-s-american-wrestler-gives-patriotic-victory-speech-after-winning-gold-medal\">The Daily Wire<\/a>, Mensah-Stock quickly captured the hearts of the American people last week when she reacted to her gold medal win. Overcome with emotion, the wrestler wrapped herself in the red, white, and blue and thanked God and expressed her gratitude for our country \u2014 something not entirely common among U.S. athletes at the Tokyo Olympics.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI surprised myself! It\u2019s by the grace of God I\u2019m able even to move my feet,\u201d Mensah-Stock said following the championship match. \u201cI just leave it in his hands. And I pray that all the practice, the hell that my freaking coaches put me through, pays off. And every single time it does. And I get better and better. And it\u2019s so weird that there\u2019s no cap to the limit I can do. And I\u2019m excited to see what I have next.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>When asked by a reporter how it felt to represent her country, Mensah-Stock said it felt \u201camazing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI love representing the U.S. I freaking love living there,\u201d the athlete said. \u201cI love it. In her first year, she reached the state finals and went on to win state titles in her junior and senior years.
