More importantly, the controversy your recent actions have brought upon our local businesses has had an adverse effect on the value of our independently owned franchises and investments. \u2026 Friends and family, neighbors and other businesses we work with have shamed us personally for doing business not just with a company that draws controversy, but with one that continues to consider the calculated negative affect on its franchisees as acceptable collateral damage.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The letter concluded, \u201cThose who feel strongly about Israel that they want to boycott it or some part of the territory it administers are free to do so. They cannot, however, do that at our expense. We believe this decision needs to be re-examined and withdrawn.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\" readability=\"10.796610169492\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">\ud83d\udce2 Letter from <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/benandjerrys?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@benandjerrys<\/a> franchisees, in response to company&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Israel?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Israel<\/a> boycott, which they say &#8220;not only distorts the situation on the ground \u2026 it has imposed substantial financial costs on all of us.&#8221; They also write passionately of the personal toll the decision has had. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/iQ8APbzStM\">pic.twitter.com\/iQ8APbzStM<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Arsen Ostrovsky (@Ostrov_A) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Ostrov_A\/status\/1422916199751487490?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">August 4, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>As <a href=\"https:\/\/jewishjournal.com\/news\/339398\/ben-jerrys-us-franchisees-call-for-company-to-rescind-israel-decision\/\">The Jewish Journal<\/a> reported, \u201cJake Novak, the Broadcast Media Director for the Israeli Consulate General of New York, tweeted that the letter is \u2018very, very important\u2019 because \u2018franchisees often take their franchise owners to court over stuff like this. There are lawyers who specialize in these kinds of cases and win. This is a red flag for #Benandjerrys parent company.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This week, Florida GOP Governor Ron DeSantis <a href=\"https:\/\/dailywire.com\/news\/desantis-warns-ben-jerrys-unilever-youve-got-90-days-to-reverse-israel-boycott\/\">issued a warning<\/a> to Ben &amp; Jerry\u2019s parent company, Unilever, that they had 90 days to reverse the company\u2019s boycott targeting Israel or else face harsh consequences, including Florida&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-9858389\/DeSantis-gives-Ben-Jerrys-parent-company-90-days-end-ice-cream-makers-Israel-boycott.html\">barring state pension funds<\/a> holding investments in Unilever.<\/p>\n<p>The state board of administration of Florida, which is comprised of DeSantis, state Chief Financial Officer Jimmy Patronis, and Attorney General Ashley Moody, issued a letter that detailed the steps the state would take to punish Unilever for its decision to boycott the Biblical areas of Judea and Samaria in Israel.<\/p>\n<p>DeSantis stated, \u201cBy placing Ben &amp; Jerry\u2019s Fortune 500 parent company Unilever on our List of Scrutinized Companies that Boycott Israel, Florida is sending a message to corporate America that we will defend our strong relationship with the Jewish State.
