As the CDC <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/coronavirus\/2019-ncov\/communication\/Signed-CDC-Eviction-Order.pdf\"><span>claimed<\/span><\/a><span> on Tuesday, \u201ceviction moratoria \u2014 like quarantine, isolation, and social distancing \u2014 can be an effective public health measure utilized to prevent the spread of communicable disease.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>In other words \u2014 a government bureau is yet again leveraging \u201cpublic health\u201d concerns as a mechanism for quashing civil liberties.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Americans may be left wondering why the federal government \u2014 specifically, an executive agency with no constitutional foundation \u2014 is capable of unilaterally suspending private property rights. They may also wonder what constitutional checks and balances exist to combat an executive agency that exceeds its mandate.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The answer to the first question? It isn\u2019t, and it doesn\u2019t matter. Why? Because of the answer to the second question: there are no constitutionally-prescribed means for the people to hold unelected bureaucrats accountable. Such are important worries, but \u2014 as Anthony Fauci\u2019s ascension to deity ought to have taught us by now \u2014 we are unlikely to receive any recourse for the trampling of our rights.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Nevertheless, a third question arises. Why are landlords \u2014 many of whom belong to the middle class \u2014 being transformed before our eyes into indentured servants?&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The answer to this question is not found in the constitution of the United States, but in the communism of Friedrich Engels. His <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.marxists.org\/archive\/marx\/works\/1847\/06\/09.htm\"><span>Communist Confession of Faith<\/span><\/a><span> \u2014 quite literally a catechism for people who hate God \u2014 notes that the elimination of private property is necessary for the establishment of communism:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"13\">\n<p><b><i>Question 2:<\/i><\/b><i><span> What is the aim of the Communists?<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><b><i>Answer:<\/i><\/b><i><span> To organise society in such a way that every member of it can develop and use all his capabilities and powers in complete freedom and without thereby infringing the basic conditions of this society.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><b><i>Question 3:<\/i><\/b><i><span> How do you wish to achieve this aim?<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><b><i>Answer:<\/i><\/b><i><span> By the elimination of private property and its replacement by community of property.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span>Later in the document \u2014 the entirety of which, to the discerning reader, is increasingly indistinguishable from the Democratic platform \u2014 Engels specifies that the gradual violation of private property rights by the state is a necessary precondition for doing away with such rights altogether:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"17\">\n<p><b><i>Question 17:<\/i><\/b><i><span> What will be your first measure once you have established democracy?<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><b><i>Answer:<\/i><\/b><i><span> Guaranteeing the subsistence of the proletariat.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><b><i>Question 18:<\/i><\/b><i><span> How will you do this?<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><b><i>Answer:<\/i><\/b><i><span> By limiting private property in such a way that it gradually prepares the way for its transformation into social property, e. g., by progressive taxation, limitation of the right of inheritance in favour of the state, etc.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span>Communists throughout the twentieth century have followed Engels\u2019 counsel \u2014 even through its later stages.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Joseph Stalin once <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/history.hanover.edu\/courses\/excerpts\/111stalin.html\"><span>described<\/span><\/a><span> the subjugation of the kulaks \u2014 a prosperous class of peasants responsible for much of the Soviet Union\u2019s agricultural output \u2014 by boasting that his regime had \u201cpassed from the policy of <\/span><i><span>restricting<\/span><\/i><span> the exploiting tendencies of the kulaks to the policy of <\/span><i><span>eliminating<\/span><\/i><span> the kulaks as a class.\u201d Many labeled as kulaks \u2014 which, by the way, is a pejorative derived from the Russian term for \u201ctight-fisted\u201d \u2014 eventually found themselves in his gulags.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Mao Zedong, who <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.marxists.org\/reference\/archive\/mao\/works\/red-book\/ch03.htm\"><span>lamented<\/span><\/a><span> that \u201cthere is a serious tendency towards capitalism among the well-to-do peasants,\u201d presided over a \u201cLand Reform Movement\u201d which resulted in the killing of hundreds of thousands \u2014 if not millions \u2014 of landowners.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Is the United States approaching such levels of backlash against those exercising their property rights? Hopefully not.
