When asked if he had a relationship with Gutekunst, Rodgers said it was \u201cprofessional.\u201d He elaborated on Wednesday.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cI think it\u2019s a work in progress. I think relationships aren\u2019t formed in a matter of a couple days,\u201d Rodgers <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nfl.com\/news\/aaron-rodgers-calls-relationship-with-packers-gm-brian-gutekunst-a-work-in-progr\"><span>said<\/span><\/a>&nbsp;on Wednesday.<span>&nbsp;\u201cThere\u2019s time where the respect grows and the communication follows. I think the greatest relationships that you have with your friends and loved ones involve conversations and flow. You can not talk to a close friend for a few months and pick up right where you left off.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cThere\u2019s no break in communication, there\u2019s no forced conversations where you got to hit this person up because it\u2019s on your to-do list that day. It\u2019s all about wanting to have those conversations and wanting to be in conversation like that. We\u2019ve had a couple conversations, they\u2019ve been positive conversations.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The relationship will more than likely need to be better than \u201cprofessional\u201d if Rodgers is to finish his career in Green Bay. In his initial press conference, he alluded to the hesitancy of the front office to involve him in personnel conversations.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cAnd then, the other part, in February was wanting to be a part of conversations involving free agents, which has never happened in my career. \u2026 I\u2019ve tried to pass along information, hasn\u2019t really been used, shall we say? So, I wanted to offer my services as a recruiter.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cI think we can all understand Green Bay isn\u2019t a huge vacation destination,\u201d Rodgers <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/packers\/status\/1420430899208937472?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1420430899208937472%7Ctwgr%5E%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&amp;ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.si.com%2Fnfl%2F2021%2F07%2F28%2Faaron-rodgers-press-conference-return-to-packers\"><span>said<\/span><\/a><span>. \u201cPeople are coming here to play with me, to play with our team, and knowing that they can win a championship here, and the fact that I haven\u2019t been used in those discussions is what I wanted to change moving forward. And I felt like based on my years, the way I can still play, that that should be a natural part of the conversation.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>On Wednesday, Rodgers also touched on the position his backup quarterback \u2014 Jordan Love \u2014 is in, harkening back to his days behind Packers legend Brett Favre.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cI have a lot of respect and love for Jordan, and I understand it\u2019s got to be tough what he went through,\u201d Rodgers <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/story\/_\/id\/31958621\/aaron-rodgers-says-relationship-green-bay-packers-gm-brian-gutekunst-work-progress\">said<\/a><\/span><span>. \u201cI went through it for two years in the offseason, going in \u201906 and \u201907, I was the guy the entire offseason, going through quarterback school, going through most of the OTAs, taking all the reps, and then here comes Favre coming back \u2014 and obviously I\u2019m back on the bench.
