It was a more limited moratorium that was going to be impacting and helping areas that were hardest hit by COVID \u2014 so different than the last moratorium,\u201d she said.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cThat was also reflected in the statement that we issued on Monday \u2014 that that was the president\u2019s ask \u2014<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp; <\/span>to look into a more limited moratorium. They did that and yesterday\u2019s announcement was a reflection of that process,\u201d she added.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Psaki noted, \u201cWe don\u2019t control the courts. We don\u2019t know what they will do. We are all aware of the Supreme Court decision at the end of June and what was outlined in their decision at the end of June.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cThis is also going to be a temporary solution regardless and a longer-term solution will require legislative action,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Psaki was later asked specifically about the legal teams involved.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span>A reporter asked, \u201cWho inside the administration signed off on the legality of what the CDC proposed yesterday?\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cThe CDC\u2019s lawyers, as well as our counsel\u2019s office,\u201d she answered, noting that she wasn\u2019t aware of the Justice Department\u2019s engagement and would need to check on it.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cThis is not a permanent solution. It is extended through the beginning of October,\u201d she later pressed.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">On Wednesday, CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky sent out a <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CDCDirector\/status\/1422986417526001664\"><span class=\"s1\">tweet<\/span><\/a> saying that she \u201csigned an eviction moratorium for US counties experiencing substantial &amp; high levels of [COVID-19] transmission. Biden argued last week that he lacked the authority to extend the moratorium without Congress\u2019 approval, citing recent signals from the Supreme Court that any potential extension would be struck down,\u201d The Daily Wire noted.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Biden changed course after the House Democrats were not able to get legislation together and reinstated the ban, along with harsh punishments for landlords who go against the order.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cA person violating this Order may be subject to a fine of no more than $100,000 or one year in jail, or both, if the violation does not result in a death, or a fine of no more than $250,000 or one year in jail, or both if the violation results in a death or s otherwise provided by law,\u201d the new&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/coronavirus\/2019-ncov\/communication\/Signed-CDC-Eviction-Order.pdf\"><span class=\"s1\">order<\/span><\/a>, drafted by the CDC states.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cAn organization violating this Order may be subject to a fine of no more than $200,000 per event if the violation does not result in a death or $500,000 per event if the violation results in a death or as otherwise provided by law,\u201d the order continues. \u201cThe U.S. Department of Justice may initiate criminal proceedings as appropriate seeking imposition of these criminal penalties.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><i>The Daily Wire is one of America\u2019s fastest-growing conservative media companies and counter-cultural outlets for news, opinion, and entertainment.
