(Photo by Spencer Platt\/Getty Images)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Gottlieb also <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/07\/28\/fda-scott-gottlieb-delta-variant-coronavirus-masks\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">said<\/a> in July the delta variant surge across the U.S. would last just a few weeks. \u201cThe South will come out of this in a couple of weeks but you\u2019re going to see cases start to pick up in the North,\u201d Gottlieb said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s going to coincide with the restart of schools. I think it\u2019s going to complicate things. This is a big country so this epidemic wave is going to hit different regions at different points in time,\u201d Gottlieb said.<\/p>\n<p>He previously <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/05\/09\/scott-gottlieb-mask-mandates-covid-restrictions-vaccines-immunity\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">called<\/a> for states to lift coronavirus restrictions as vaccination rates rise and infection rates drop in May. \u201cThe risk is reduced as result of immunity. People are at the point where we can start lifting the ordinances in a wholesale fashion and people have to take precautions,\u201d Gottlieb told CBS\u2019 \u201cFace the Nation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Gottlieb also <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/02\/28\/scott-gottlieb-vaccines-preventing-coronavirus-transmission\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">said<\/a> in February that there is \u201cmore and more evidence\u201d coronavirus vaccines are also \u201cpreventing transmission of infection.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think this is a good vaccine,\u201d he said. \u201cThere is more and more evidence that these vaccines are preventing transmission of infection, which makes them an even more important public health tool.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Content created by The Daily Caller News Foundation is available without charge to any eligible news publisher that can provide a large audience.
