Andrew Cuomo (D-NY) was found to have sexually harassed \u201cmultiple women\u201d and retaliated against at least one accuser, according to a report from New York Attorney General Letitia James, a Democrat.<\/p>\n<p>Included in James\u2019 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2021\/08\/03\/politics\/read-ny-ag-report-on-cuomo\/index.html\">report<\/a> is a section detailing how one of Cuomo\u2019s top advisers, Rich Azzopardi, sent confidential personnel information about one of Cuomo\u2019s accusers to multiple media outlets. Under the headline \u201cThe Release of Confidential Files Relating to Ms. [Lindsey] Boylan,\u201d the AG\u2019s office explained how shortly after Boylan publicly accused Cuomo of sexual harassment in a tweet, one of Cuomo\u2019s top aides requested Boylan\u2019s \u201cfull file.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>That aide, Melissa DeRosa, is the same aide who <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/report-cuomos-top-aide-says-new-york-hid-nursing-home-death-toll\">admitted<\/a> to withholding New York\u2019s nursing-home death total from COVID-19.<\/p>\n<p>Back to the sexual harassment report, DeRosa shared Boylan\u2019s December 2020 tweets with Alphonso David, former counsel to Cuomo, and Linda Lacewell, the Superintendent of New York\u2019s Department of Financial Services. DeRosa at that time texted David asking to see Boylan\u2019s \u201cfull file,\u201d according to the AG report.<\/p>\n<p>David, who at that time was the president of the Human Rights campaign, told DeRosa that another staffer should be able to provide the file for Boylan\u2019s time in the Governor\u2019s office. On December 11, 2020, just two days after Boylan\u2019s first tweet about Cuomo, David sent Azzopardi \u201cfiles relating to his investigation into and counseling of Ms. Boylan shortly before her departure from the Executive Chamber that he had retained and taken with him when he left the Executive Chamber.\u201d The report refers to these files as the \u201cConfidential Files,\u201d which included:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><em>a September 20, 2018 memorandum to Mr. David Regarding \u2018Confidential Personnel Matter\u201d;<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>a September 26, 2018 memorandum to Mr. David labeled \u201cDraft, privileged and confidential \u2013 Attorney Client Privileged Communication \/ Intra-Agency Communication \/ Memo to File\u201d;<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>a September 30, 2018 email from Mr. David labeled \u201cPrivileged and confidential \/ Attorney client communication \/ Attorney work product.\u201d<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>David told investigators with the AG\u2019s office that he kept copies of these files because it \u201cmay have been the only instance where [he] was actually involved in a counseling of an employee when [he] was in the Executive Chamber.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On December 13, Boylan again tweeted about Cuomo\u2019s alleged sexual harassment of her while she worked in the Governor\u2019s office. Hours later, Azzopardi sent the confidential files obtained from David to David Caruso at the Associated Press, Dana Rubinstein at The New York Times, Ed McKinley of the Times Union, and Bernadette Hogan of the New York Post. In addition to the confidential files, the reporters were sent a statement from Cuomo Press Secretary Caitlin Girouard saying \u201c[t]here is simply no truth to these claims.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The content of those confidential files included complaints against Boylan, the AG\u2019s office explained. The files sent to reporters had the names of the complainants \u201credacted with Wite-Out.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Azzopardi also sent the files to \u201cformer Executive Chamber Staff\u201d and other staff members. DeRosa and Azzopardi, along with former Cuomo communications directors Richard Bamberger and Dani Lever, \u201ccoordinated with some of the reporters who received the documents to let them know that the Executive Chamber would be sending them,\u201d the AG\u2019s report said.<\/p>\n<p>On December 14, 2020, Azzopardi sent the confidential documents to more reporters, including Zack Budryk at The Hill, Marcia Kramer at CBS, and Zack Fink at NY1 News.
