The image has been photoshopped.<\/p>\n<p><span><strong>Fact Check:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/CSCrnpeJwZK\/?utm_source=ig_embed&amp;ig_rid=7858b7e8-0a60-452c-86ea-f4e1cc921dfb\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Facebook post<\/a> shows a supposed screen grab of an article, allegedly published by The New York Times, that seemingly suggests the 2020 election was stolen. The subheadline mentions former President Donald Trump and law enforcement officials.<\/p>\n<p>A search of The New York Times\u2019 website, however, yielded <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/search?query=even+if+the+election+was+stolen\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">no matches<\/a> for the headline shown in the Facebook post. The purported article also cannot be found on either the newspaper\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/page\/5281959998\/search\/?q=Even%20If%20The%20Election%20Was%20Stolen\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Facebook page<\/a> or its <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/search?q=%22even%20if%20the%20election%20was%20stolen%22%20(from%3Anytimes)&amp;src=typed_query\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Twitter account<\/a>. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/checkyourfact.com\/2020\/07\/09\/fact-check-new-york-times-publish-article-donald-trump-died\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Did The New York href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2021\/07\/30\/us\/politics\/trump-justice-department-election.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Trump Pressed Justice Dept. to Declare Election Results Corrupt, Notes Show<\/a>.\u201d In the digitally altered image, the headline has been changed.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/nytimes.com\/2021\/07\/30\/us\/politics\/trump-justice-department-election.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">actual New York Times article<\/a> reported that, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/oversight.house.gov\/news\/press-releases\/committee-obtains-key-evidence-of-president-trump-s-attempts-to-overturn-the\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">handwritten<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/oversight.house.gov\/sites\/democrats.oversight.house.gov\/files\/DOJ%20Donoghue%20Notes%20Extract%20for%20Production.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">notes<\/a> from then-Acting Deputy Attorney General Richard Donoghue, Trump asked Department of Justice officials in a December phone call to say the 2020 election was \u201ccorrupt.\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20210730152041\/nytimes.com\/2021\/07\/30\/us\/politics\/trump-justice-department-election.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Archived<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20210730154812\/nytimes.com\/2021\/07\/30\/us\/politics\/trump-justice-department-election.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">versions<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20210731003620\/nytimes.com\/2021\/07\/30\/us\/politics\/trump-justice-department-election.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">the Wayback Machine<\/a> show the piece has not suggested at any point that the election was stolen or sported the headline featured in the Facebook post.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe New York Times did not write or publish the headline in that screenshot,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/jordan-cohen-51796816\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jordan Cohen<\/a>, the executive director of communications for the publication, told Check Your Fact in an email.<\/p>\n<p>The Elections Infrastructure Government Coordinating Council and the Elections Infrastructure Sector Coordinating Council issued a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cisa.gov\/news\/2020\/11\/12\/joint-statement-elections-infrastructure-government-coordinating-council-election\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">joint statement<\/a> in November of last year stating, \u201cThe November 3rd election was the most secure in American history.\u201d Former Attorney General William Barr also said the Department of Justice found no evidence of widespread voter fraud, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/barr-no-widespread-election-fraud-b1f1488796c9a98c4b1a9061a6c7f49d\" target=\"_blank\"
