The claim appears to stem from a parody Twitter account that has since been suspended.<\/p>\n<p><span><strong>Fact Check:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Eilish, an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/articles\/news\/grammys\/9540657\/billie-eilish-wins-record-of-the-year-2021-grammys-everything-i-wanted\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">award-winning singer and songwriter<\/a> known for songs such as \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=viimfQi_pUw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ocean Eyes<\/a>\u201d and \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=DyDfgMOUjCI\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Bad Guy<\/a>,\u201d recently released her <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/billie-eilish-happier-than-ever-music-video-1205016\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">second full-length album<\/a> titled \u201cHappier Than Ever.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The image allegedly showing a People Magazine interview excerpt with Eilish circulated ahead of her latest album\u2019s release. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/permalink.php?story_fbid=1101385103722111&amp;id=100015518945353https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/permalink.php?story_fbid=1101385103722111&amp;id=100015518945353\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">supposed excerpt<\/a> quotes Eilish as saying \u201cWhen I got rich, I started balling my eyes out, I wanted to be poor so I can relate to most of my fans\u201d and \u201cI still want to be broke and poor, it looks really fun and cute.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Check Your Fact found no instance of Eilish making the statements in articles published by <a href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/search\/?q=Billie+Eilish+poor+broke\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">People Magazine<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/search?q=Eilish+When+I+got+rich%2C+I+started+balling+my+eyes+out%2C+I+wanted+to+be+poor+so+I+can+relate+to+most+of+my+fans&amp;rlz=1C1CHBF_enUS820US820&amp;oq=Eilish+When+I+got+rich%2C+I+started+balling+my+eyes+out%2C+I+wanted+to+be+poor+so+I+can+relate+to+most+of+my+fans&amp;aqs=chrome..69i57j46i131i433i512j0i433i512j0i512l2j46i131i433i512j0i512l3.1771j0j15&amp;sourceid=chrome&amp;ie=UTF-8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">any other credible news outlet<\/a>. Likewise, neither statement appears on the \u201cOcean Eyes\u201d singer\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/search?q=poor%20(from%3Abillieeilish)&amp;src=typed_query\">social<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/profile\/100044298376167\/search\/?q=poor\">media<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/billieeilish\/\">accounts<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The fabricated quotes seem to stem from the now-suspended parody Twitter account <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BilliesUpdatess\">@BilliesUpdatess<\/a>. The account, which <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20210728032009\/https:\/twitter.com\/billiesupdatess\">described itself<\/a> as a \u201cparody account\u201d and \u201cNOT affiliated with anything related to Billie Eilish,\u201d tweeted the image of the fake interview excerpt on July 26, according to an <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20210727014600\/https:\/twitter.com\/BilliesUpdatess\/status\/1419836398786461696\">archived version<\/a> of the tweet.<\/p>\n<p>Eilish\u2019s brother, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.insider.com\/finneas-oconnell-songs-wrote-produced-billie-eilish-brother\">Finneas O\u2019Connell<\/a>, addressed the parody account\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20210727181459\/https:\/twitter.com\/cometherr\/status\/1420078175174934528\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">tweet<\/a> in a <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/finneas\/status\/1420078578608140293\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">July 27 tweet<\/a> of his own, calling it \u201cfake obviously.\u201d <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/checkyourfact.com\/2021\/07\/20\/fact-check-joe-biden-olivia-rodrigo-shoulders\/\">(RELATED: Does This Image Show Joe Biden Touching Olivia Rodrigo\u2019s Shoulders?)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" readability=\"7.5789473684211\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Fake obviously.
