Cori Bush\u2019s (D-Mo.) protest on the steps of the U.S. Capitol, activists demanded Pelosi convene a congressional session to extend the eviction moratorium.<\/p>\n<p>The notice claimed because of rising covid case counts, people should be allowed to stay in their homes regardless of rent payment status.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe call upon you to immediately call Congress to session to vote to extend the eviction moratorium and keep people in their homes,\u201d one activist stated. \u201cWe\u2019re in the midst of the second worst COVID surge to date and this is not the time to allow evictions to begin. Housing is a human right.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The House went into its summer recess on Friday without passing the moratorium extension. Pelosi originally claimed Republicans were solely to blame for their failures, despite Democrats controlling both the House and Senate.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Ensuring every American has a roof overhead is a value that unites the Democratic Party.
