De Blasio announced the recommendations on Monday, which was based on the CDC\u2019s updated guidance.<\/p>\n<p>The Democrat mayor said the move was part of efforts to help curb the fast spreading Delta variant.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe want to strongly recommend that people wear masks in indoor settings, even if you\u2019re vaccinated,\u201d he announced. \u201c\u2026Absolutely crucial to wear a mask even if you are vaccinated. The difference, of course, is if you\u2019re around fully vaccinated people. That\u2019s a better situation.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">A reminder: unvaccinated New Yorkers need to wear a mask in ALL public settings, outdoors and indoors.<\/p>\n<p>We are also strongly recommending that vaccinated New Yorkers wear masks in indoor public settings.
