On Friday, the Biden administration announced new sanctions on the country\u2019s National Revolutionary Police and two top security officials on the force.<\/p>\n<p>The administration said the sanctions were made in response to authorities attempts to harm or silence protestors following ongoing demonstrations in Cuba. Earlier on Friday, Joe Biden met with members of the Cuban-American community and members of Congress at the White House.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re going to continue to add sanctions on individuals that carry out the regime\u2019s abuses,\u201d said Biden.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Today, we are imposing further sanctions against the Cuban police following their attacks on protestors, including young people, religious leaders, and civil society organizations.
