The total was one shy of Wednesday\u2019s initial vote, when <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/07\/28\/bipartisan-infrastructure-bill-advances-senate-chuck-schumer-rob-portman\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">67 senators voted to move it toward debate<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Seventeen GOP senators voted to move the bill forward two days earlier, including Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell and the top Republicans on several powerful Senate committees.<\/p>\n<p>Though its advancement was expected, it was a large step towards Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer\u2019s bid to pass both the bipartisan public works package and Democrats\u2019 <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/07\/14\/democrats-chuck-schumer-bernie-sanders-infrastructure-budget-reconciliation-plan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">$3.5 trillion reconciliation package<\/a> before the Senate\u2019s scheduled recess begins Aug. 9.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Senate remains on track to reach our goal of passing both a bipartisan infrastructure bill and a budget resolution with reconciliation instructions before the start of the August recess,\u201d Schumer said on the Senate floor ahead of Friday\u2019s vote. \u201cIt\u2019s an ambitious deadline, absolutely. It allocates billions of dollars toward repairing the nation\u2019s roads, bridges, waterways and drinking water pipes and provides funding for expanded broadband, electric vehicle charging stations and public transit.<\/p>\n<p>Though it is moving closer to becoming law, it still has a long way to go. It must still pass the House of Representatives, where many Democrats want to see any bipartisan bill include much of the provisions it included in its own <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/07\/01\/house-passes-surface-transportation-bill-bipartisan-infrastructure-negotiations\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">$715 billion surface transportation bill<\/a> which lawmakers passed a month ago.&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/07\/28\/bipartisan-infrastructure-bill-advances-senate-chuck-schumer-rob-portman\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill Sails Past Filibuster, Advances In Senate)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Additionally, some House progressives have&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/06\/24\/ilhan-omar-nancy-pelosi-joe-biden-bernie-sanders-elizabeth-warren-american-jobs-plan-chuck-schumer\/\">hinged their support<\/a>&nbsp;for the bipartisan package on passing the reconciliation one as well, even as some Senate moderates have shown hesitation at passing another multi-trillion dollar bill.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWithout a reconciliation package that meets this moment, I\u2019m a no on this bipartisan deal,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MondaireJones\/status\/1420462014644764676\">wrote<\/a> New York Democratic Rep. Mondaire Jones after Sen.
