Biden, the New York Times reported earlier this year, nominated Chipman, who has \u201cadvised gun control groups\u201d \u201cin part because of his willingness to bluntly confront an industry that has handcuffed the agency, which enforces gun laws.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Biden even announced Chipman\u2019s nomination in a press conference where he unveiled his own gun control agenda, calling gun violence an \u201cepidemic\u201d and an \u201cinternational embarrassment.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\" readability=\"13.04347826087\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">President Biden unveils several new executive actions, his first steps on gun control.<\/p>\n<p>First, he says he\u2019ll reign in \u201cghost guns,\u201d or kits to build firearms, and have them \u201ctreated as firearms under the Gun Control Act.\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/nbmmKDzG86\">pic.twitter.com\/nbmmKDzG86<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 The Recount (@therecount) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/therecount\/status\/1380192235837358084?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">April 8, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The Reload, however, reported last week that Chipman is facing allegations of racism stemming from his time at the ATF in Detroit, Michigan.<\/p>\n<p>Chipman was asked, during hearings, about&nbsp;two Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) complaints he received during his tenure at the ATF. Chipman said only that the complaints were&nbsp;\u201cresolved without any finding of discrimination and no disciplinary action was taken against me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A conservative group, the <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/06\/22\/american-accountability-foundation-david-chipman\/\">Daily Caller reported<\/a>, has filed a lawsuit seeking those complaints, after learning that records could be \u201crelated to an incident around 2007 in which Chipman allegedly made a derogatory comment about black ATF agents performing too well on a selection exam.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Reload reported last week that \u201cmultiple\u201d ATF agents \u201cback up the existence of a complaint alleging President Biden\u2019s nominee to lead ATF, David Chipman, made racist comments during his previous stint at the agency. The agents, who have decades of experience at the agency, told The Reload they heard the accusation that Chipman denigrated black ATF agents up for promotion. The officials said they heard about Chipman\u2019s alleged comments before they were referenced in a recent lawsuit seeking the release of the complaint.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe made some comments that he was surprised by the number of African Americans who have made it onto a specific promotional list,\u201d an ATF agent told The Reload.&nbsp;\u201cSo, his insinuation was that they had to have cheated. Which is kind of despicable.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Republicans demanded Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL) <a href=\"https:\/\/thereload.com\/app\/uploads\/2021\/07\/2021-07-29-SJC-Rs-to-Durbin-Chipman.pdf\">order the reports released<\/a>, and on Friday, McConnell wrote to the White House telling Biden to rescind Chipman\u2019s nomination over the allegations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn light of these credible allegations, and Mr. Chipman\u2019s long record of anti-Second Amendment extremism, the President must withdraw Mr. Chipman\u2019s nomination,\u201d McConnell said, also per The Reload. \u201cHe said the claims combined with Chipman\u2019s history of supporting strict new gun laws made him unworkable as an ATF director.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf the President won\u2019t do the right thing, at the very least Senate Democrats must hold a second hearing and release Chipman\u2019s entire record,\u201d McConnell added. \u201cThe American people deserve the full truth about Mr. Chipman\u2019s time at ATF, including especially these racist statements.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>The Daily Wire is one of America\u2019s fastest-growing conservative media companies and counter-cultural outlets for news, opinion, and entertainment.
