She continued, \u201cHear me out. Young teens are already watching porn but they\u2019re finding hard core, aggressive videos that give a terrible view of sex. They need entry level porn! A soft core site where everyone asks for consent and no one gets choked.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>When the comment brought immediate backlash, Gill <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/irishloubega\/status\/1420746989415768064?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1420746989415768064%7Ctwgr%5E%7Ctwcon%5Es1_c10&amp;ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.thewrap.com%2Fjournalist-flora-gill-porn-for-children%2F\">clarified<\/a>, \u201cChildren means under 18. I\u2019m talking about 14\/15\/16-year-olds.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She later tried to walk back the idea entirely, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/FloraEGill\/status\/1420746186089107463?s=20\">saying<\/a> it \u201cobviously wasn\u2019t an actual solution, but it is a real problem. Everyone take a deep breath.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As the furor grew, Gill deleted the first two tweets and pled with those sharing screenshots of her comment to stop. &nbsp;\u201cApropos of nothing I really think if someone quickly deletes a tweet, it shouldn\u2019t be screenshotted and shared like\u2026 just let it die, you know? no? no one else agree?\u201d she <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/FloraEGill\/status\/1420753165008334864?s=20\">said<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>But Gill is not the only member of the media who appears to believe some exposure to pornography can be good for kids. The New York Times recently defended a school counselor for teaching \u201cporn literacy\u201d and showing a video about masturbation to five- and six-year-olds.<\/p>\n<p>In May, a counselor at an elite Manhattan private school showed first graders an animated discussion of masturbation. The cartoon the Dalton School students saw featured a very young boy saying, \u201cSometimes, I touch my penis, because it feels good.\u201d In response, an underage girl says, \u201cWhen I\u2019m in my bath or Mom puts me to bed, I like to touch my vulva, too.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>That same counselor previously conducted \u201cporn literacy\u201d classes featuring hardcore topics for high school juniors and seniors at another exclusive Manhattan school. As The Daily Wire\u2019s Mairead McArdle reported:<\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"21\">\n<p><em>About 120 juniors, girls and boys, at Columbia Grammar &amp; Preparatory School were subjected to Fonte\u2019s class, called \u201cPornography Literacy: An intersectional focus on mainstream porn,\u201d which presented them with explicit material including slides.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Fonte\u2019s class included material such as semi-nude women in bondage, porn genres including \u201cincest-themed,\u201d \u201cbarely legal,\u201d and \u201ckink and BDSM,\u201d and the&nbsp;most searched pornography terms of 2019 including \u201ccreampie,\u201d \u201canal,\u201d and \u201cgangbang.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The New York Times <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/new-york-times-shocked-parents-oppose-porn-literacy-in-schools\">defended<\/a> the counselor, saying, \u201cWhile parents may not want to believe that their teenagers are viewing pornography, many of them probably are, on purpose or by accident.\u201d The story then went to argue that such pornography education provides teens a way to \u201ccritically assess what they see on the screen\u201d and \u201cdeconstruct implicit gender roles.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The outlet <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/nytimes\/status\/1412879138478768131?s=20\">promoted<\/a> the report on social media by focusing on the parents\u2019 response rather than the school\u2019s actions. \u201cPornography literacy classes are supposed to teach students how to critically assess what they see on the screen,\u201d the Times Twitter account posted. \u201cBut when a sex-positive educator taught her curriculum at two elite New York City schools recently, some parents were outraged.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>The Daily Wire is one of America\u2019s fastest-growing conservative media companies and counter-cultural outlets for news, opinion, and entertainment.
