Thomas Massie blasted the U.S. Capitol Police chief\u2019s announcement that anyone refusing to comply with the House\u2019s mask mandate is subject to arrest while taking a swipe at House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.<\/p>\n<p>Capitol Police Chief J. Thomas Manger announced in a Thursday bulletin that Capitol Police, in compliance with <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/07\/28\/kevin-mccarthy-mask-mandate-nancy-pelosi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Speaker Pelosi\u2019s<\/a> renewed mask mandate, are directed to arrest any staff member or visitor of the building who refuses an officer\u2019s request to wear a mask inside the building.<\/p>\n<p>Massie called the rule \u201cINSANE\u201d and refused to follow the mask mandate in a Thursday tweet.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is INSANE. Might as well come into my office and arrest my entire staff,\u201d Massie tweeted. \u201cWe are not wearing masks. I support the Capitol Hill Police, but the Chief of Police made a mistake here. The physician and the chief of police don\u2019t have this authority.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" readability=\"9.7815384615385\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">This is INSANE. The physician and the chief of police don\u2019t have this authority. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/CgiSuNvE8c\">https:\/\/t.co\/CgiSuNvE8c<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Thomas Massie (@RepThomasMassie) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RepThomasMassie\/status\/1420731883562967041?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">July 29, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The House\u2019s mask mandate returned after the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issued updated&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/07\/27\/cdc-vaccinated-americans-mask-up-some-circumstances-delta-variant\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">guidelines<\/a> on July 27, suggesting that all individuals, regardless of vaccination status, wear a mask indoors to protect against the Delta variant. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/07\/29\/congressional-aides-visitors-maskless-arrest-capitol-police\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Heating Up The COVID Crackdown, Capitol Police Asked To Arrest Congressional Aides Who Aren\u2019t Wearing Masks)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Capitol Police will work with the House Division to \u201cenforce the mask mandate in all House Office Buildings and Committee meetings,\u201d the bulletin stated. A person that does not follow the rule will be charged with \u201cUnlawful Entry.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf a visitor or staff member fails to wear a mask after a request is made to do so, the visitor or staff shall be denied entry to the House Office Buildings or House-side of the U.S. Capitol,\u201d Manger wrote. \u201cAny person who fails to either comply or leave the premises after being asked to do so would be subject to an arrest for Unlawful Entry.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Pelosi kept the previous <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/07\/28\/congresss-doctor-attempts-to-defend-mask-mandate-without-covering-up-his-face\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">mask mandate<\/a> in place despite the CDC\u2019s May 13 guidance that said fully vaccinated individuals can enter indoor settings without a mask. The Kentucky Republican <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RepThomasMassie\/status\/1394749773140344833\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">tweeted<\/a> at the time that he refused to follow the Speaker\u2019s rules since they were \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/05\/18\/thomas-massie-nancy-pelosi-house-mask-requirement\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">not based on science<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve had enough. We are refusing to wear our masks on the floor during this vote in spite of Pelosi\u2019s threat to take $500 from each of us,\u201d Massie said May 18.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/07\/28\/dod-require-masks-substantial-high-areas-transmission\/\">Department of Defense<\/a> (DOD) announced Wednesday that all employees and visitors are required to comply with the CDC\u2019s most recent recommendations.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Republican Kentucky Rep.
