More than half a dozen GOP lawmakers refused to wear masks on the floor on Wednesday despite being warned the action could result in hefty fines.<\/p>\n<p>In an attempt to stop the monetary penalties for choosing to breathe freely, a group of Republican elected officials announced a lawsuit against Pelosi. They argued the fines are a violation of the 27th Amendment, which states Congress shall not receive a pay increase or decrease during an ongoing session.<\/p>\n<p>South Carolina Congressman Ralph Norman (R) announced the suit at a press conference on Tuesday. He called Pelosi\u2019s mandate an abuse of power and said now is the time to fight it.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">In today\u2019s edition of Pelosi\u2019s abuse of power, Capitol Police have been directed to arrest staff and visitors to comply with her mask mandate for vaccinated individuals. <\/p>\n<p>For Members, they advise not arresting but \u201creporting Members to SAA for their failure to comply.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>1\/2 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/MtgGUndSIO\">pic.twitter.com\/MtgGUndSIO<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Congresswoman Kat Cammack (@RepKatCammack) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RepKatCammack\/status\/1420727107735461888?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">July 29, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Kentucky Congressman Thomas Massie (R), who is also a plaintiff in the lawsuit, pointed out their purpose for fighting is to ensure more mandates and restrictions are not imposed by edict nationwide.
