What really is important is to assess the research behind it. Which is what our team is doing,\u201d the mayor said. \u201cWe\u2019ve got to make sure we understand the ramifications and what makes sense to do.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Several states, cities, the White House, Congress, businesses, and federal agencies have already adopted the CDC\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/cdc-fully-vaccinated-people-should-wear-masks-indoors-in-some-areas_3921045.html\">latest mask guidelines<\/a>. The reason why mask-wearing is recommended for some areas, said CDC Director Rochelle Walensky, is because some vaccinated individuals may be contagious and pass the virus to other people.<\/p>\n<p>When contacted by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/cdc-studies-propelling-shift-in-mask-guidance-not-available_3923107.html\">The Epoch Times<\/a> on Wednesday, a CDC spokesperson said the studies the agency cited for its latest guidance haven\u2019t yet been published. As for when they will be available, it\u2019s not clear.<\/p>\n<p>CDC guidance posted on its website Tuesday cited \u201cunpublished data\u201d reviewed by the agency\u2019s COVID-19 Response Team.<\/p>\n<p>Federal health officials have not yet issued any public comments about the possibility of mass non-compliance with the CDC\u2019s guidelines even as de Blasio and several other high-profile Democrat officials hesitate to implement masking rules.<\/p>\n<p>And it\u2019s not just elected officials asking questions about the missing CDC studies and data.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_3921725\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/img.theepochtimes.com\/assets\/uploads\/2021\/07\/28\/nancy-pelosi-2-1200x800.jpg\" width=\"1200\" height=\"800\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\"><noscript><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-3921725\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/nancy-pelosi-2-600x400-1.jpg\" alt=\"House Speaker Nancy Pelosi\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><\/noscript><\/figcaption>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) (Stefani Reynolds\/Getty Images)<\/figure>\n<p>\u201cThey\u2019re making a claim that people with delta who are vaccinated and unvaccinated have similar levels of viral load, but nobody knows what that means,\u201d Gregg Gonsalves, an associate professor at the Yale School of Public Health, told\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/health\/breakthrough-infections-cdc-data\/2021\/07\/28\/dcaaa6b2-efce-11eb-a452-4da5fe48582d_story.html\">The Washington Post<\/a>. \u201cIt\u2019s meaningless unless we see the data.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Robert Wachter, chair of the Department of Medicine at the University of California at San Francisco, wondered whether there are more COVID-19 cases among vaccinated individuals \u201cbecause the virus is better and the vaccines don\u2019t hold up quite as well, or is the efficacy of the vaccines beginning to wane, independent of the Delta\u201d COVID-19 variant.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is three-dimensional chess, there\u2019s a hundred things going on at the same time,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The CDC has not mandated that people wear masks, leaving it up to states and municipalities. Throughout the pandemic, some governors and mayors have closely followed the agency\u2019s guidelines.<\/p>\n<p>Kansas City Gov.
