(Photo by Alex Wong\/Getty Images)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h5 data-wp-editing=\"1\">OAN Newsroom<br \/>UPDATED 3:43 PM PT \u2013 Tuesday, July 27, 2021<\/h5>\n<p>House Republican leaders have called House Speaker Nancy Pelosi\u2019s January 6 committee a \u201csham\u201d that would only produce a \u201cfailed report.\u201d In a press conference ahead of Tuesday\u2019s opening hearings in Washington, Republicans insisted Pelosi cherry-picked members for the committee who would stick to her talking points and predetermined narrative for the events of January 6.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe now have a committee that all of America wants to know the answers to,\u201d explained House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.). \u201c\u2026Unfortunately, Speaker Pelosi will only pick on people unto the committee that will ask the questions she wants asked. That becomes a failed committee and a failed report, a sham that no one can believe..\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">What you won\u2019t hear from Pelosi\u2019s sham committee:<\/p>\n<p>Why was the Capitol left so vulnerable that day?<br \/>Why wasn&#8217;t the National Guard here?<br \/>Why didn\u2019t we have a better security posture?<br \/>What changes are needed to make sure it never happens again? <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/OSGF6PQx3s\">https:\/\/t.co\/OSGF6PQx3s<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Kevin McCarthy (@GOPLeader) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/GOPLeader\/status\/1419992938784952327?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">July 27, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>McCarthy went on to say if lawmakers wanted the true answers, they should not be afraid of the questions that would be asked. Rep. Steve Scalise (R-La.) echoed those sentiments.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSpeaker Pelosi said that she doesn\u2019t want those questions to asked so she kicked them off the committee,\u201d he stated. \u201cShe took an unprecedented step of refusing to allow members to be appointed by the minority leader to a select committee. That never before happened in the history of Congress.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Scalise reiterated Democrats were not aiming at the truth, but instead conspiring to cover up the facts with a narrative prewritten by Pelosi.<\/p>\n<p>Conference Chair Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.) said it was only after Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) and Rep. Jim Banks (R-Ind.) began to raise questions about Pelosi\u2019s negligent and \u201cpotentially nefarious\u201d response to Intelligence reports that she refused to seat them on the committee.<\/p>\n<p>She went on to say, \u201cit is a fact that the U.S. Capitol police raised concerns and rather than providing them with the support and resources they needed and they deserved, she prioritized her partisan political optics over their safety.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">The mainstream media serves as Lame Duck Nancy Pelosi\u2019s loyal stenographers.<\/p>\n<p>No questions allowed about Speaker Pelosi! All off limits.<\/p>\n<p>Speaker of the House clearly bears responsibility for not securing the US Capitol on Jan 6th \u2013 But the drooling media is too petrified to ask.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Elise Stefanik (@EliseStefanik) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/EliseStefanik\/status\/1420077455512064007?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">July 27, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Banks called on the chairman of the committee to bring before the panel the head of the Capitol Police Union, who has repeatedly said both publicly and privately that officers weren\u2019t prepared, despite the intelligence Pelosi was given in December.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey were not prepared for what happened on January 6 in spite of&nbsp; intelligence reports that date back three weeks before that day,\u201d he asserted. \u201cThey weren\u2019t equipped on January 6 with the proper equipment that they needed to handle what happened that day and they weren\u2019t trained for what was going to happen that day.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Jordan, who like Banks was denied a chair on the committee, questioned why Pelosi ordered the sergeant of arms of the National Guard to remain off Capitol grounds on January 6.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPelosi\u2019s office had previously impressed upon the Sergeant of Arms Paul Irving that the National Guard was to remain off Capitol grounds,\u201d he discussed. \u201cIrving told House administration discussions centered around the quote \u2018optics.&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Today we heard Officer Harry Dunn say that they were unprepared. <\/p>\n<p>Leaving our officers on the frontline ill equipped was a dereliction of duty on <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SpeakerPelosi?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@SpeakerPelosi<\/a>\u2019s watch.<\/p>\n<p>My <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/HouseGOP?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@HouseGOP<\/a> colleagues and I want to know why this happened, but the Speaker is afraid of the answers. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/DJ3yScrlfu\">pic.twitter.com\/DJ3yScrlfu<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Jim Banks (@RepJimBanks) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RepJimBanks\/status\/1420079733165940738?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">July 27, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Jordan posed the question of why Democrats were so concerned about the optics.
