It does not show a real species of jellyfish.<\/p>\n<p><span><strong>Fact Check:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/photo\/?fbid=3705590989547175&amp;set=gm.509483150100334\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">image<\/a> shows an amorphous shape made of rings of red, green, yellow and orange that appears to be drifting through a body of water. \u201cSPANISH DANCER JELLYFISH \u2013 Spanish dancing jellyfish found near the Tami Atoll in Papua New Guinea,\u201d reads the image\u2019s caption.<\/p>\n<p>While there are, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mba.ac.uk\/fact-sheet-jellyfish\">Marine Biological Association<\/a>, more than 200 different species of jellyfish, Check Your Fact didn\u2019t find any species closely resembling the supposedly pictured \u201cSpanish Dancer\u201d in various <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vims.edu\/bayinfo\/jellyfish\/guide\/index.php\">jellyfish<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/coastmonkey.ie\/jellyfish-identification-guide\/\">identification<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.beaches.ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/jellyfish-id-card.pdf\">guides<\/a>. There is a sea creature called the Spanish Dancer, but it is a sea slug rather than a jellyfish, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20170620034448\/http:\/\/ocean.nationalgeographic.com\/ocean\/photos\/nudibranchs\/#\/nudibranchs01-spanish-dancer_18171_600x450.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">National Geographic<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe image does not appear to show anatomical features of an authentic medusazoan (jellyfish),\u201d <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pbrc.hawaii.edu\/index.php\/yanagihara-aa\">Angel Yanagihara<\/a>, an associate researcher at the Pacific Biosciences Research Center of the University of Hawaii, said in an email to Check Your Fact. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/checkyourfact.com\/2021\/06\/21\/fact-check-hairy-frog-cameroon-photoshopped\/\">(RELATED: Does This Image Show A Real \u2018Hairy Frog\u2019 Found In Cameroon?)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A reverse image search revealed the image is actually a digital creation.
