That data shows a general trend that births are quickly rebounding to almost 2019 levels, according to IFS.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGiven that lockdowns and other policy measures, high unemployment, and excess deaths from COVID-19 persisted <em>long&nbsp;<\/em>past April 2020, and indeed to the present day, this is an astonishing outcome,\u201d the researchers said. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/05\/05\/bidens-childcare-plan-disregards-lower-middle-class-families-who-dont-want-daycare-experts-say\/\">(RELATED: Biden\u2019s Childcare Plan Disregards Lower, Middle Class Families Who Don\u2019t Want Daycare, Experts Say)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A <a href=\"https:\/\/jamanetwork.com\/journals\/jamanetworkopen\/fullarticle\/2780572\">University of Michigan study published in June 2021<\/a> found that pregnancies sharply declined during Michigan\u2019s initial lockdown before rising above 2019 levels by the end of 2020. The University of Virginia medical system also confirmed this trend to IFS.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s a plausible theory about <em>why&nbsp;<\/em>this birth rebound happened so fast,\u201d the IFS researchers wrote. \u201cIn this theory, the summer of 2020 was also a time when the country began to realize two key facts: first, that the pandemic was probably going to go on for a <em>long time<\/em>, with many, recurrent waves, and second, that some of the changes the pandemic brought were very helpful to families.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Many people realized that they were not low on cash due to stimulus checks and unemployment benefits, IFS noted.
