She scored a 13.766 on the attempt and was seen walking off of the floor with trainers with an apparent injury.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Biles returned to the floor, as she was scheduled to compete on the uneven bars. Shortly after, it was announced that she had withdrawn from the event and replaced by Jordan Chiles.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\" readability=\"7.1978021978022\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Confirmed: After one routine, Simone Biles \ud83c\uddfa\ud83c\uddf8 will sit out the rest of the Women&#8217;s Team final in <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/ArtisticGymnastics?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#ArtisticGymnastics<\/a> at <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Tokyo2020?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Tokyo2020<\/a>. <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Olympics?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Olympics<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 FIG (@gymnastics) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/gymnastics\/status\/1419984879266238474?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">July 27, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span>The NBC broadcast team said that Biles was not injured, but was instead dealing with a \u201cmental issue.\u201d&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s unclear whether Biles will be able to participate in her upcoming individual events.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSimone has withdrawn from the team final competition due to a medical issue,\u201d U.S.A. Gymnastics <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/live\/2021\/07\/27\/sports\/gymnastics-olympics-results\">said<\/a> in a statement. \u201cShe will be assessed daily to determine medical clearance for future competitions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><span>Biles entered the Olympics with as much hype as any Olympic athlete. She has an opportunity to win five gold medals in Tokyo, which would be the most gold medals at a single Games for an American female Olympian.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>On Sunday, the U.S. gymnastics team got off to a surprisingly slow start. Biles struggled as the team finished second behind the <\/span><span>Russian team in qualifying. It\u2019s the first time the Americans have failed to finish first in team standings since the 2010 world championships.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cThis was not the finals,\u201d U.S. high-performance director Tom Forster <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/olympics\/story\/_\/id\/31880478\/us-women-gymnastics-team-2nd-place-qualifying-first-decade\"><span>said<\/span><\/a><span>. \u201cThis was getting into the finals. So this might be a great awakening for us and we\u2019ll take advantage of it.\u201d&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Biles admitted to having \u201cthe weight of the world\u201d on her shoulders after her difficult day during U.S. qualifying.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cIt wasn\u2019t an easy day or my best but I got through it. I truly do feel like I have the weight of the world on my shoulders at times,\u201d Biles <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/CRxsq_kBZrP\/\"><span>wrote<\/span><\/a><span> on Instagram. \u201cI know I brush it off and make it seem like pressure doesn\u2019t affect me but damn sometimes it\u2019s hard hahaha!
