(Photo by John Moore\/Getty Images)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h5>OAN Newsroom<br \/>UPDATED 1:35 PM PT \u2013 Monday, July 26, 2021<\/h5>\n<p>A pair of New York Police officers and several bystanders have been hailed heroes after they saved a mother and her child, who were hit by an alleged drunk driver. The woman and her 6-month-old child were crossing a street in Yonkers last week when an out of control car flew around a corner.<\/p>\n<p>The speeding vehicle hit a parked car before it plowed into the mother and her child and crashed into a barbershop. Two police officers, who were having breakfast nearby, and several witnesses quickly jumped in to help free the mother and lift the car off the baby.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSomebody\u2019s gotta pull the baby. Grab the baby,\u201d one officer on the scene said. \u201cI got the baby.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The baby suffered a fractured skull and the mother fractured her leg. Police said the 43-year-old driver did not have a license and was arrested at the scene for allegedly driving while intoxicated.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Police Officers Fusco and Samoyedny embody the spirit of the <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/YonkersPD?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@YonkersPD<\/a> \u2014 always willing to put others above themselves without hesitation. <\/p>\n<p>Their act of heroism saved the life of a baby girl and her mother.
