She is also a frequent speaker at educator conferences and for the local school district.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>JCPS will offer the \u201cAnti-Racist Mathematics Pedagogy &amp; Practices\u201d program starting in August. It will end in May 2022. Each month, participants will spend two hours being told how they can eliminate racism in math, and will also \u201creceive individual coaching and feedback,\u201d the Fix reported.<\/p>\n<p>Teachers accepted into the program will be required to teach four anti-racism math sessions during their Spring 2022 semester and are told they should \u201cplan for wider dissemination of their learning within their schools and the district.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Another year-long program hosted by the school district aims to inject so-called anti-racism lessons into other topics, such as history. Part of the program introduces teachers to various takes on U.S. history, including a book titled \u201cA Queer History of the United States\u201d and another called \u201cA Disability History of the United States.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As The Daily Wire has previously <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/oregon-promotes-program-focused-on-dismantling-racism-in-mathematics-says-finding-the-right-answer-a-sign-of-white-supremacy\">reported<\/a>, the idea that \u201cmath is racist\u201d is hardly new. Earlier this year, the Oregon Department of Education promoted a program for teachers that sought to \u201cdisman[tle] racism in mathematics,\u201d alleging that focusing on finding the right answer is a symbol of white supremacy.<\/p>\n<p>Fox News&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/us\/oregon-education-math-white-supremacy\">reported<\/a>&nbsp;that the ODE sent out a newsletter in mid-February that mentioned a \u201cPathway to Math Equity Micro-Course\u201d that occurred on February 21. The course, according to Fox, was designed for middle school teachers to make use of a toolkit for \u2018dismantling racism in mathematics.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The newsletter encouraged teachers to sign up for the training, which the New York Post previously&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2019\/05\/20\/richard-carranza-held-doe-white-supremacy-culture-training\/\">reported<\/a>&nbsp;as including a section with 14 things associated with \u201cWhite Supremacy Culture,\u201d including perfectionism, objectivity, and individualism.<\/p>\n<p>Objectivity is described in the workbook accompanying the training as \u201cthe belief that there is such a thing as being objective or \u2018neutral.\u2019\u201d The program\u2019s toolkit also encourages teachers not to focus on a single correct answer, but to \u201ccome up with at least two answers that might solve this problem\u201d and to \u201cChallenge standardized test questions by getting the \u2018right\u2019 answer, but justify other answers by unpacking the assumptions that are made in the problem.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The toolkit also asked instructors to \u201ccenter ethnomathematics\u201d in multiple ways, one of which is to \u201cidentify and challenge the ways that math is used to uphold capitalist, imperialist, and racist views.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In March, the California Math Research Institute <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/california-math-research-institute-to-host-math-and-racial-justice-workshop\">announced<\/a> it was hosting a \u201cMathematics and Racial Justice\u201d workshop.<\/p>\n<p><em>The Daily Wire is one of America\u2019s fastest-growing conservative media companies and counter-cultural outlets for news, opinion, and entertainment.
