John Bel Edwards (D) has recommended his state return to wearing masks after a surge in new COVID-19 cases. In a press conference on Friday, Edwards urged people regardless of being vaccinated to wear masks when indoors and when social distancing wasn\u2019t possible.<\/p>\n<p>This comes after Louisiana was deemed the state with the fastest growth in new COVID-19 cases per capita. Edwards warned of further restrictions if the situation within the state continued to intensify.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJust this week alone, since Monday, including today\u2019s announcements, we\u2019ve added 16,898 positive cases of COVID,\u201d Edwards explained. \u201cWe know that more than 8 percent of these are the Delta variant.
