In a meeting on Thursday at the White House, Biden discussed the $1.2 trillion measure with people who represent unions, including those for manufacturers, electricians and painters.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is one of those meetings that we\u2019re looking forward to,\u201d he stated. \u201cThey\u2019re not here to negotiate with one another. The good news is that they\u2019ve been here negotiating, supporting what we\u2019re trying to get done in the infrastructure bill.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Biden added, he\u2019s being traveling a lot and found the number one concern of foreign nations right now is whether the two major parties will come to an agreement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI tell ya, the rest of the world is looking to see whether we can get something done, I\u2019m not joking,\u201d he explained. \u201cThe single biggest issue when we travel the world\u2026the fact is they\u2019re trying to figure out whether we\u2019re so divided that we can\u2019t get something done.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">It\u2019s mystifying why Rs continue to \u201cnegotiate\u201d with Ds on \u201cinfrastructure\u201d after Schumer\/Biden made clear they intend to ram through\u2014via partisan reconciliation\u2014every expenditure, tax hike &amp; policy excluded from the bipartisan \u201cdeal\u201d. The \u201cnegotiation\u201d is an elaborate gimmick.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Stephen Miller (@StephenM) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/StephenM\/status\/1418218260168728597?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">July 22, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Biden then promised that electrifying school buses, transit systems and building national charging networks for electric vehicles will help the nation win the global competition for infrastructure.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s not about energy versus environment, it\u2019s not about business versus labor,\u201d he asserted. \u201cIt\u2019s all about basically a race to the future.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The meeting appeared to be an attempt to drum up support for the infrastructure bill after Republicans blocked debate on the proposal because it wasn\u2019t complete.
