Teachers are <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/like-daniel-in-the-lions-den-4-teachers-who-stood-up-refused-to-teach-wokeness-in-the-classroom\"><span>refusing<\/span><\/a><span> to indoctrinate their classes with politicized ideological frameworks. Parents are <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/4-parent-groups-fighting-against-critical-race-theory-in-schools\"><span>organizing<\/span><\/a><span> against leftism in school districts. Their efforts are having tangible results \u2014 as shown most recently by the Department of Education decision to back down from <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/after-conservative-backlash-department-of-education-scales-back-critical-race-theory-plans\"><span>encouraging<\/span><\/a><span> critical race theory in the nation\u2019s public schools.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Despite evident victories, however, America still has a long way to go before it purges critical race theory from its classrooms.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Here are some of the worst examples.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>New York \u2014 Nine-year-old activists<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span>Fairport Central School District near Rochester, New York, placed fourth graders in \u201crestorative justice\u201d circles to learn about racism.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Using a racial justice curriculum developed by a consulting firm, students were encouraged to partake in activism and uproot racism in Rochester.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>According to materials obtained by The Daily Wire\u2019s <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/upstate-new-york-school-district-puts-fourth-graders-in-restorative-justice-circles-as-part-of-new-race-based-curriculum\"><span>Chrissy Clark<\/span><\/a><span>, nine-year-olds must be able to \u201cunderstand, discuss, and identify examples of racism, segregation, and anti-racism.\u201d Students were shown pictures of children protesting as an example of \u201canti-racism.\u201d The children\u2019s signs contain slogans like \u201cBlack Lives Matter\u201d and \u201cNone of us is free until all of us are free.\u201d&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>As an \u201cexit ticket\u201d idea for teachers, students could watch a video that would help them to \u201creflect on how we as fourth graders can be antiracists\u201d and what \u201cproblem(s) in our school or community [they] want to change.\u201d One example included an image of three young girls with the caption: \u201cBailey, Khaliat, and Simra meeting with their principal to address their concerns about hiring more black teachers.\u201d&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Tennessee \u2014 The Constitution is white supremacist<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span>Vanderbilt University professors taught students that the United States Constitution is racist.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>As reported by <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.campusreform.org\/?ID=15801\"><span>Campus Reform<\/span><\/a><span>, a Vanderbilt course with over 800 participants asked students on a test whether the founding document was \u201cdesigned to perpetuate white supremacy.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The correct answer was \u201ctrue\u201d \u2014 and at least one student in the class lost points after answering \u201cfalse.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>One Vanderbilt student explained to Campus Reform that professors included the question as a freebie: \u201cAll of the quiz\u2019s answers would come directly from a recorded lecture\u2026 the questions were exact quotes from the lecture. Even if the student disagreed with the statement about the original writing of the Constitution, they obviously weren\u2019t paying attention to the lecture.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Virginia \u2014 Whiteness and \u2018white culture\u2019<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span>Left-wing educators pushed critical race theory in a small, conservative town near Richmond, Virginia.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>As reported by <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2021\/07\/12\/appalled-parents-discover-racially-extremist-instruction-in-conservative-virginia-county\/\"><span>The Federalist<\/span><\/a><span>, Powhatan County Public Schools administrators tried to convince community members that teaching critical race theory was no more than a form of encouraging \u201ccultural competency.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>County Supervisor David Williams shared slides from the Virginia Inquiry Collaborative \u2014 a group that pushes teaching about the evils of \u201cwhite culture\u201d through the lens of \u201csystemic racism\u201d \u2014 during a June 22 school board meeting. The slides included the emblems of seven participating school districts.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Williams showcased a training slide deck entitled \u201cConstruction of a Dominant Narrative: \u2018Whiteness,\u2019\u201d which described race as \u201cnot based on genetics,\u201d a \u201csocial construction,\u201d and \u201cnot \u2018real,\u2019\u201d yet discussing consequences for the \u201cracialized.\u201d According to the slide, race \u201cwas created to and remains the main tool for maintaining social, economic and educational inequality in the U.S. and beyond.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Community members, understandably, were not thrilled.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cWhy are we sending teachers to a conference to re-write Virginia history which focuses on whiteness and the color of someone\u2019s skin?\u201d asked resident Sarah Taylor. \u201cWhat does this have to do with curriculum in Powhatan County? What does this have to do with math and science? This idea of race being the predominant factor in curriculum has got to go.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Utah \u2014 \u2018Microaggressions\u2019<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span>University of Utah staff members were subjected to a training about \u201cwhiteness.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>An educator provided a recording of the presentation to The Daily Wire\u2019s <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/leaked-univ-utah-diversity-session-even-well-received-compliments-now-microaggressions\"><span>Georgia Howe<\/span><\/a><span>, who reported that participants were informed that a comment or action can be considered a \u201cmicroaggression\u201d even if it is well-intended and causes no apparent harm.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>One diversity instructor explained that a genuine compliment can be a microaggression even if the recipient was flattered by it, as long as the compliment in some way \u201creinforces\u201d systems of power. For instance, phrases like \u201cYou\u2019re so smart for 15!\u201d and \u201cWow, you look great for your age!\u201d were provided as two obvious examples of microaggressions.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>One female participant chimed in: \u201cPeople tell me I\u2019m too successful to be so young\u201d and \u201ctoo ambitious.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cIt\u2019s like, you can\u2019t be twenty-six years old and that well-spoken,\u201d she lamented. \u201cIt\u2019s like, <\/span><i><span>thanks<\/span><\/i><span>,\u201d&nbsp; she added sarcastically, \u201cso that really hit home for me.\u201d&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Florida \u2014 \u2018Social justice\u2019 summer camp<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span>The University of North Florida launched a virtual \u201csocial justice\u201d summer camp to \u201ccreate communities of young leaders and future teachers who know that education is an essential element in the fight against racism and oppression.\u201d&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.campusreform.org\/article?id=17648\"><span>Campus Reform<\/span><\/a><span> reported that the program \u2014 \u201cBridges Summer Camp\u201d \u2014 is designed for \u201cyoung adults who want to explore educational and community spaces from racial equity, social justice and activist perspectives.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>In a video of students describing their favorite memories from their camp experience, one student says that he was impacted when an instructor told him \u201cif you\u2019re not part of the solution, you\u2019re part of the problem.\u201d Another student liked circle discussions \u2014 during which \u201cyou can hear everyone\u2019s perspectives on different situations and questions.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span>The views expressed in this piece are the author\u2019s own and do not necessarily represent those of The Daily Wire.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i><span>The Daily Wire is one of America\u2019s fastest-growing conservative media companies and counter-cultural outlets for news, opinion, and entertainment.
