(AP Photo\/Susan Walsh)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h5>OAN Newsroom<br \/>UPDATED 8:16 AM PT \u2013 Thursday, July 22, 2021<\/h5>\n<p>Joe Biden is shifting blame for the rise in crime across the country while also claiming it\u2019s Republicans that are lying about who\u2019s behind the push to defund America\u2019s police departments.<\/p>\n<p>During his Town Hall on CNN Wednesday, Biden actually claimed crime is down, but then said gun violence and murder rates are up. He then focused on his reputation as a gun control senator during his time in congress while stating he\u2019s looking to get rid of everything from 9mm pistols to rifles.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">They&#8217;re not hiding their intentions. Joe Biden says he wants to ban handguns \u2014 not merely AR-15s like their previous dishonest talking points suggested. Biden went as far as to ask, \u201care there people in the Republican Party who think we\u2019re sucking the blood out of people?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>After returning to the White House from Ohio Wednesday, reporters on the South Lawn followed up on the issue of Democrats being anti-police.
