Biden responded with a list of reforms that he supports but stopped short of saying that the entire police force should be defunded, as some activists have called for. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/04\/19\/squad-members-defund-police-spent-thousands-private-security-protect-themselves-alexandria-ocasio-cortez-ilhan-omar-ayanna-pressley-cori-bush\/\">(RELATED: \u2018The Squad\u2019 Pushes To \u2018Defund The Police\u2019 While Spending Thousands On Private Security To Protect Themselves)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" readability=\"8.9473684210526\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Don Lemon: \u201cHow do you respond to Republicans who try to paint you and your party as anti-police?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Pres. I\u2019ve always said that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Lemon asked Biden about activists calling to defund the police.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve never said defund the police,\u201d the president responded. \u201cI don\u2019t know any communities, particularly communities that are in the most need, and the poorest, and the most at-risk that don\u2019t want police. They want police, though, to look at them as equals.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Several Democratic politicians have supported defunding the police, including Missouri Rep. <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/07\/16\/cori-bush-wants-defund-police-spent-70000-private-security\/\">Cori Bush<\/a>, New York Rep. <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2020\/11\/13\/ocasio-cortez-defends-defund-police\/\">Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez<\/a>, and Minnesota Rep. <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2020\/06\/05\/ilhan-omar-minneapolis-police-department\/\">Ilhan Omar<\/a>.
