Weber. The Superior Court of California held this afternoon that Secretary Weber will list Elder as a candidate for governor in the special California recall election scheduled for September 14, 2021,\u201d his campaign website announced in a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.electelder.com\/news\/larry-elder-wins-lawsuit-against-california-secretary-of-state\/\"><span>press release<\/span><\/a><span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cThe court\u2019s ruling reverses the secretary\u2019s decision to disqualify Elder as a candidate for alleged redaction issues with the income tax returns filed with his candidacy application. According to the court, the law by which the Secretary of State required candidates to submit tax returns for the upcoming election applies to direct primary elections, not recall elections. Hence, Elder did not have to file tax returns at all to qualify as a candidate,\u201d the release added.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cI want to express my deepest gratitude to the Superior Court of California, our friends, volunteers, supporters, and the people of California,\u201d said Elder on the website. \u201cWe fought the shenanigans of Sacramento\u2019s politicians and we won. If elected governor, I will fight every single day for this state. This is just the beginning.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>On Monday, Elder <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/ill-see-you-in-court-larry-elder-slams-california-secretary-of-state-for-letter-which-claims-he-did-not-qualify-as-a-candidate\">announced<\/a> that his run for California governor had been blocked, with California\u2019s secretary of state arguing that his candidacy was illegitimate.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cWe\u2019re in court in less than an hour over this B.S. Before we submitted the over 200 pages of 5 yrs of tax returns, my accountant made sure we complied with the law, as did two election law lawyers,\u201d Elder <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/larryelder\/status\/1417145586038362112\"><span>tweeted<\/span><\/a><span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cThis new law was passed by the supermajority Democrat legislature to force Trump to turn over his tax returns to get on the 2020 ballot. California Supreme Court struck it down unanimously for presidential, but let it stand for gubernatorial elections.<\/p>\n<p>See you in court. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/enR61ZWJ69\">pic.twitter.com\/enR61ZWJ69<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Larry Elder (@larryelder) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/larryelder\/status\/1417146889292566528?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">July 19, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span>The image included by Elder showed a letter from Dr. Shirley Weber, the California Secretary of State, and the \u201cCandidate Filing and Election Night Reporting Team.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cDear Candidate,\u201d the letter reads. \u201cWe are writing to inform you that you did not qualify as a candidate for the upcoming September 14, 2021, California Gubernatorial Recall Election.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cAccording to our records, you did not qualify due to one or more of the following reasons,\u201d the letter continues, with the marked \u201creason\u201d being \u201cIncomplete redacted and\/or unredacted income tax returns were filed.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cPeople are wondering, \u2018Why is my name not on the list of candidates to recall Governor Gavin Newsom in this recall election?\u2019\u201d Elder said in a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/larryelder\/status\/1417121083103141895\"><span>video<\/span><\/a><span> blasting the California official, before sharing a headline from The Associated Press regarding a California court invalidating a law \u201crequiring Trump tax return.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cThat was to prevent Trump from getting on the ballot in California, but it did not apply to gubernatorial candidates. First time ever,\u201d Elder continued. He then shared the letter received from the California Secretary of State, describing them as \u201ca Democrat.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cThe only box checked,\u201d Elder said, \u201cIncomplete redacted or unredacted income tax returns were filed.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cWe filed both redacted and unredacted tax returns,\u201d Elder claimed. \u201cSo I guess what they\u2019re saying is we redacted something that shouldn\u2019t have been redacted, or we didn\u2019t redact something that should have been redacted.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cNever has anybody been disqualified from a ballot here in California for a reason like that,\u201d Elder added. \u201cI\u2019ll see you in court.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span>The Daily Wire is one of America\u2019s fastest-growing conservative media companies and counter-cultural outlets for news, opinion, and entertainment.
