The U.S. doled out $1.49 billion from January through May and $1.5 billion in June to low-income renters nationwide, according to a spreadsheet <a href=\"https:\/\/home.treasury.gov\/system\/files\/136\/ERA-Compliance-Report-07202021.xlsx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">published<\/a> by the Treasury.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile more households are getting help, in many states and localities, funds are still not flowing fast enough to renters and landlords,\u201d the department said. \u201cTreasury is continuing an all-out effort, in coordination with the White House and interagency partners, to get the word out about the availability of rental assistance and to support grantees in ramping up their efforts.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The federal ERA program&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hud.gov\/sites\/dfiles\/PIH\/documents\/ERAP_PIH_ERAP_FAQs.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">provides<\/a> low-income families with financial assistance for rent payments. The coronavirus relief bill enacted in December included $25 billion for ERA while the American Rescue Plan included $21.6 billion for the program.<\/p>\n<p>The department added that it hasn\u2019t distributed ERA payments using a \u201cfirst come, first serve\u201d strategy. (Chip Somodevilla\/Getty Images)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>House Financial Services Committee Ranking Member Patrick McHenry has <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/07\/13\/janet-yellen-maxine-waters-patrick-mchenry\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">sounded the alarm<\/a> on the apparent mismanagement of coronavirus relief funds. The top Republican lawmaker noted that Americans in need haven\u2019t been given access to the funds.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/06\/29\/justice-kavanaugh-supreme-court-realtors-eviction-moratorium-cdc\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">federal eviction moratorium<\/a> is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/coronavirus\/2019-ncov\/more\/pdf\/CDC_Eviction_Extension_Order_Final_06242021.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">set to expire<\/a> at the end of July. The moratorium has prohibited landlords from evicting tenants who were unable to pay rent throughout the pandemic.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis report confirms my concerns: the Biden Administration is failing to provide Emergency Rental Assistance to Americans in need,\u201d McHenry told the Daily Caller News Foundation in a statement Wednesday. \u201cWith millions of families worried they\u2019ll lose their homes in 10 days, we need to act now to correct this gross mismanagement.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut instead of working with us, Democrats are more focused on their progressive agenda \u2014 leaving renters twisting in the wind,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n<p>McHenry touted the Renter Protection Act, which was <a href=\"https:\/\/republicans-financialservices.house.gov\/news\/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=408018\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">introduced<\/a> by committee Republicans last month.
