Gavin Newsom amid his recall fight, The San Francisco Chronicle reported Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>The special election is set for Sept. 14, and 41 Californians are officially running against <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2020\/09\/17\/kamala-harris-gavin-newsom-california-wild-fire-family-accuses-trespassing-burned-home\/\">Newsom<\/a>, The New York Times <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2021\/07\/20\/us\/newsom-recall-candidates.html\">reported<\/a>. Democrats have ramped up efforts to back Newsom, with Harris promising that the White House would be as \u201csupportive as much as we possibly can\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/kamala-harris-backs-gavin-newsom-recall-election-1581208\">back in<\/a> April.<\/p>\n<p>Harris\u2019s latest assurance on <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2019\/12\/03\/kamala-harris-shutters-campaign-gavin-newsom-help\/\">campaigning<\/a> for Newsom is a step up from the White House\u2019s previous support for the <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2020\/12\/23\/gavin-newsom-first-latino-california-senator-no-black-women\/\">Democratic<\/a> governor. Harris was asked the question as she was leaving the Capitol on Wednesday and turned around to respond in the affirmative, The Chronicle <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.is\/YSkI1#selection-3059.0-3064.0\">reported<\/a>. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/02\/09\/joe-biden-recall-california-governor-gavin-newsom-covid-19-pandemic\/\">(RELATED:&nbsp;Biden Opposes Effort To Recall California Gov. The vice president\u2019s office had nothing more to offer on the subject when reached for comment by the Daily Caller.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-axufdj evys1bk0\">The Recall Gavin Newsom campaign garnered over 2 million signatures in March, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/kamala-harris-backs-gavin-newsom-recall-election-1581208\">according<\/a> to Newsweek. This exceeded the around 1.5 million signatures needed for the recall effort to move forward.<\/p>\n<p>Twenty-one candidates on the list to run against Newsom are Republicans, according to the NYT. Reality TV star <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/05\/26\/caitlyn-jenner-transgender-girls-began-treatment-compete-sports\/\">Caitlyn Jenner<\/a>, businessman John Cox and YouTube personality Kevin Paffrath are among those in the running. Democratic Lt. Gov.
