Anyone listening to it is getting hurt by it. It\u2019s killing people. It\u2019s bad information,\u201d Biden said, appearing to cite <a href=\"https:\/\/252f2edd-1c8b-49f5-9bb2-cb57bb47e4ba.filesusr.com\/ugd\/f4d9b9_b7cedc0553604720b7137f8663366ee5.pdf\">data<\/a> from the nonprofit Center for Countering Digital Hate (CCDH). The Center reported in March that \u201cabout a dozen people were super-spreaders of anti-vaccine misinformation,\u201d CNN <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2021\/07\/19\/politics\/joe-biden-facebook\/index.html\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy hope is that Facebook, instead of taking it personally, that somehow I\u2019m saying Facebook is killing people, that they would do something about the misinformation, the outrageous misinformation about the vaccine. That\u2019s what I meant,\u201d Biden told reporters after delivering a speech at the White House on the economy.<\/p>\n<p>But Biden never identified \u201cthese 12 people.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Center\u2019s report said this: \u201cJust twelve anti-vaxxers are responsible for almost two-thirds of anti-vaccine content circulating on social media platforms. This new analysis of content posted or shared to social media over 812,000 times between February and March uncovers how a tiny group of determined anti-vaxxers is responsible for a tidal wave of disinformation \u2013 and shows how platforms can fix it by enforcing their standards.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe most effective and efficient way to stop the dissemination of harmful information is to deplatform the most highly visible repeat offenders, who we term the Disinformation Dozen. This should also include the organisations these individuals control or fund, as well as any backup accounts they have established to evade removal,\u201d said the Center.<\/p>\n<p>Then it listed the dozen:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1. Joseph Mercola<\/li>\n<li>2. Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.<\/li>\n<li>3. Ty and Charlene Bollinger<\/li>\n<li>4. Sherri Tenpenny<\/li>\n<li>5. Rizza Islam<\/li>\n<li>6. Rashid Buttar<\/li>\n<li>7. Erin Elizabeth<\/li>\n<li>8. Sayer Ji<\/li>\n<li>9. Kelly Brogan<\/li>\n<li>10. Christiane Northrup<\/li>\n<li>11. Ben Tapper<\/li>\n<li>12. Kevin Jenkins<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Center called on Facebook and Twitter to shut down all pages run by the dozen, as well as several websites.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn addition to deplatforming the personal accounts of the Disinformation Dozen, platforms must also acknowledge the real-world networks they use to spread their antivaccine messages. This means deplatforming key organisations that are linked to the Disinformation Dozen or simply help spread their messages.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Children\u2019s Health Defense (Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.)<\/li>\n<li>Informed Consent Action Network (ICAN) (Del Bigtree)<\/li>\n<li>National Vaccine Information Center (NVIC) (Barbara Loe Fisher, Joseph Mercola)<\/li>\n<li>Organic Consumers Association (OCA) (Joseph Mercola)<\/li>\n<li>Millions Against Medical Mandates<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The White House on Thursday also referenced the dozen.&nbsp;\u201cThere\u2019s about 12 people who are producing 65% of anti-vaccine misinformation on social media platforms,\u201d Press Secretary Jen Psaki said&nbsp;Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>U.S. Surgeon General Vivek Murthy on Thursday also declared that COVID-19 vaccine misinformation presents a deadly threat to public health.&nbsp;\u201cMisinformation poses an imminent and insidious threat to our nation\u2019s health,\u201d Murthy said at the White House. \u201cWe must confront misinformation as a nation.
