Matt Gaetz will continue to hold \u2018America First\u2019 rallies, despite a series of cancellations that may violate his First Amendment rights.<\/p>\n<p>Gaetz and fellow Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia scheduled \u2018America First\u2019 rallies on Saturday, first in Riverside, California, and then in Anaheim. However, both cities cancelled the rallies hours before they were to begin.<\/p>\n<p>Two high-ranking Riverside officials, Mayor Patricia Lock Dawson and Mayor Pro Tempore Gaby Plascencia, cheered the cancellation. All <a href=\"https:\/\/www.riversideca.gov\/cityclerk\/elections\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Riverside<\/a> elected officials are officially non-partisan.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI recognize this was a divisive issue in our community, and I am glad it has been resolved,\u201d Dawson said. \u201cI commend Raincross Hospitality Corp. for this decision.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Raincross Hospitality Corp. is the private contractor that operates the Riverside Convention Center, which was scheduled to host the rally.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" readability=\"8.4210526315789\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">JUST IN: The \u201cAmerica First\u201d rally with Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene and Matt Gaetz that was scheduled for 6 pm Saturday at the Riverside Convention Center will not take place <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/c6CYfx6pdC\">pic.twitter.com\/c6CYfx6pdC<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Ema Sasic (@ema_sasic) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ema_sasic\/status\/1416251752534343681?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">July 17, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cI am disappointed we even got to this point, because these speakers are the antithesis of everything Riverside stands for,\u201d Plascencia added.<\/p>\n<p>Gaetz <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/mattgaetz\/status\/1416399954545840130?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">suggested<\/a> that their comments would be evidence in a First Amendment suit that he and Greene would file.<\/p>\n<p>Gaetz and Greene then attempted to hold their rally at the M3 Live Anaheim Event Center, a private <a href=\"https:\/\/www.anaheimeventcenter.us\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">venue<\/a> that hosts banquets and concerts. That rally was also cancelled.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe city of Anaheim shared public safety concerns with the operator, and those concerns are shared by the operator,\u201d city spokesman Mike Lyster said.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" readability=\"5.4742268041237\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">MAJOR UPDATE: planned America First rally cancelled.
